Patents Assigned to Musco Corporation
  • Patent number: 10584855
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system for a flexible approach to lighting design is discussed including temporary lighting designs, target areas with changing requirements, or tamper- and environmentally-resistant ground-mounted lighting fixtures for architectural or aesthetic lighting. Envisioned are fixtures typically comprising multiple compact LED modules mounted in one or more rows in a compact frame, capable of independent adjustment about at least two axes, having a wide range of aiming angles from a common pivotable joint, and preserving a thermal dissipation path regardless of aiming angle.

  • Patent number: 10549384
Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatus, methods, and techniques directed to the manufacturing of heat sinks; specifically the forming of heat sink fins which are joined to a base or substrate so to collectively form a heat sink. Said methods permit full penetration at weld joints between said heat sink fins and said base, and said apparatus permit implementation of improved heat sink manufacturing in a production setting; specifically, in the production of LED lighting fixtures.

  • Patent number: 10536671
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system for controlling camera aiming and operation through a convenient and intuitive interface using correlative touch and feel, which allows a camera operator to primarily pay attention to a game or event, while simultaneously controlling a still or video camera in three control dimensions, with a high degree of accuracy or quality.

  • Patent number: 10489968
Abstract: A new lighting design tool is presented whereby existing lighting designs can be modified to produce photorealistic virtual representations of light projected from virtual lighting fixtures (or other virtual light sources). Said photorealistic virtual representations of light are modeled in three dimensions and a user can toggle between evaluation modes (beam based or object based) so to evaluate such issues as playability, glare, and gaps in lighting coverage (as well as the more typical review of spill light, aiming angles, min/max levels, etc.)—in three dimensions, and in a format that provides a strong visual cue to a user so that, in essence, what they see in a virtual lighting design is what they will get in an installed lighting system.

  • Patent number: 10378732
Abstract: Lighting applications which are particularly difficult to light because of “non-standard” target area characteristics or the like would benefit from advancements in lighting design. That being said, conventional wisdom in lighting design has reached a point of diminishing returns in terms of beam control. Envisioned is an LED lighting system designed for precision lighting insomuch that—as compared to state-of-the-art LED lighting fixtures—sharpness of cutoff is improved while in at least some cases simultaneously allowing a steeper cutoff without undesirable beam shift. Furthermore, overall beam dimensions can be tailored fixture-to-fixture for an application without replacing an entire optic system or designing an entirely new fixture, and control of intensity distribution is improved (e.g., by avoiding striations at the edge of beam patterns). Said envisioned LED lighting system employs a number of materials not used in conventional LED lighting systems in novel ways to achieve the aforementioned.

  • Patent number: 10356886
Abstract: A lighting system is designed to include (i) primary lighting fixtures at a poletop position to provide primary lighting at a target area so to ensure specific light levels, lighting uniformity, or the like needed to adequately perform specific tasks during nighttime or low ambient light conditions; and (ii) secondary lighting fixtures at a mounted position on the same pole, but other than poletop, to provide targeted lighting on the pole itself rather than the target area. A method of providing enhanced spectator experience through theatrical effects is achieved by varying intensity, color, duty cycle, or other operating characteristics of the secondary lighting fixtures, including coordination with the primary lighting fixtures to provide multi-dimensional theatrical effects at or near a poletop location.

  • Patent number: 10344948
Abstract: There is a category of situations which may have previously been considered direct replacement but in fact takes on many elements of a true retrofit; namely, replacing existing LED lighting systems (which they themselves were retrofits) with different LED lighting systems that (i) overcome a deficiency or inadequacy of the existing LED lighting system retrofit, (ii) adds a functionality to the existing LED lighting system retrofit, or (iii) reestablishes functionality that would otherwise be lost with the existing LED lighting system retrofit. Discussed herein are means to provide improved glare control, horizontal beam containment, playability and control functionality for interfacing with third party controls in these so-called retrofit-of-a-retrofit, or “upgrade” situations.

  • Patent number: 10347979
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a mobile network concealment system or assembly which provides for aesthetic modification without impairing, diminishing, or otherwise affecting radio frequency (RF) transmission/reception. Said mobile network concealment system or assembly improves accessibility to encased mobile network devices well after installation in a manner such that (i) materials can be tailored, colored, molded, or otherwise formed or manipulated to be aesthetically pleasing, and (ii) a technician has the ability to remove, alter, or otherwise modify or access the devices in a way that allows the technician to service or troubleshoot the mobile network devices in situ (i.e., without removing the concealment system).
