Publication number: 20080184645Abstract: A wall covering comprising plastic molded wall panels and corner moldings each formed with simulated cedar shake shingles. The corner molding shingles are mountable in partially overlying relation to the shingles of adjacent wall panels and a previously mounted corner molding. The corner moldings further each have upper marginal edge regions that are positionable into tight fitting underlying relation to the wall panels in a course immediately above the corner molding for providing a more natural hand cut shake appearance. The corner moldings have mounting latches and hooks which are longitudinally severable to permit mounting on all surfaces that define corners substantially greater than 90°, and the corner moldings preferably are formed with different patterns of simulated shake for further contributing to their natural appearance.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2007Publication date: August 7, 2008Applicant: Nailite InternationalInventors: Robert Trabue, Stefan Schwarz

Publication number: 20080098683Abstract: A roof or wall covering comprising a plurality of horizontal courses of molded plastic panels each formed with a single row of simulated shake shingles. The panels have a continuous upper interlock flange that facilitates inner-engagement of the panels of overlying courses without cumbersome handling of numerous small interlock fingers which can be missed during installation. Cooperating detents are provided between the overlying lower and upper marginal edge regions which facilitate proper positioning of the panels and which support the weight of the panel during securement to a wall surface. A bottom interlock flange is supported transversely across a rear side of the panel by vertically-spaced support plates which facilitate both liquid drainage and air circulation through the installed wall covering. In the preferred embodiment, the panels in alternate courses are identically formed with different shake patterns for enhancing the natural appearance of the wall covering.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2006Publication date: May 1, 2008Applicant: Nailite InternationalInventors: Robert Trabue, Stefan Schwarz

Patent number: 7228665Abstract: A wall covering for a pair of wall surfaces that form a corner. The wall covering includes (1) plurality of wall panels each having a plurality of horizontal tiers of simulated building elements and (2) a plurality of corner moldings each having a single tier of building elements. The corner moldings each have mounting flanges and an interlock and alignment pin that facilitate adjustable positioning of the corner molding with a selected tier of building elements of an adjacent wall panel. The corner molding mounting flanges and building elements further define relatively deep wall panel receiving pockets for positively retaining the side of an adjacent wall panel and forming a water barrier.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2004Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Nailite International, Inc.Inventor: John Perry

Publication number: 20060191228Abstract: A wall covering comprised of a plurality of panels formed with a simulated hand laid brick and mortar design. The panels are mounted in horizontal courses with a lower marginal edge region of one panel being in overlying relation to the upper marginal edge region of a panel in a previously mounted course. The upper and lower marginal edge regions have a tapered seating design which enable close positioning of the brick and mortar of two mating panels with the mortar lines between the brick being in substantially coplanar relation with each other and with the simulated brick each protruding a uniform distance from the mortar lines with an esthetic and natural appearance. The junction between mating panels is substantially unnoticeable and the uniformity of the brick and mortar design does not incur unsightly shadowing that can detract from the natural appearance.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2005Publication date: August 31, 2006Applicant: Nailite InternationalInventor: John Perry

Publication number: 20050116390Abstract: The invention provides a method for injection molding a wall covering comprising a plurality of panels, the method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a mold having a mold cavity therein, the mold cavity defining a wall covering comprising a plurality of panels, (b) providing a first precursor, the first precursor comprising a thermoplastic resin, (c) providing a second precursor, the second precursor comprising a thermoplastic resin and a filler, (d) mixing the first and second precursors in a controlled ratio to produce a precursor mixture, (e) melting the precursor mixture to produce a melted precursor mixture, (f) injecting the melted precursor mixture into the mold cavity, (g) cooling the melted precursor mixture contained in the mold cavity to a temperature sufficient for the melted precursor mixture to at least partially set and form the wall covering, and (h) releasing the wall covering from the mold.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2004Publication date: June 2, 2005Applicant: Nailite InternationalInventors: Kathy Watson, John Perry

Patent number: 5537792Abstract: A wall covering comprising a plurality of plastic molded panels each having a relatively thin body portion formed with rows of simulated building elements. The panels are mounted on a support surface in a plurality of horizontal courses with a side marginal edge region of one panel overlapping and sealingly engaging an underlying side marginal edge region of the adjacent panel and a lower marginal region of a panel in one course overlying an upper marginal region of a panel in a lower course. Each panel is provided with frangible locating means for positively locating an interlock lip of the overlying panel in predetermined engaged relation with interlock flanges of an underlying panel. The interlock flanges of the panels are provided with reinforcement ribs to prevent breakage when the panels are exposed to weather extremes and undergo thermal expansion or contraction. Finally, each panel is provided with side interlock means which enhance the panel's resistance to buckling during installation and use.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1995Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Nailite InternationalInventor: Alfred Moliere

Patent number: 5076037Abstract: A decorative wall covering and method of installation. The wall covering includes a plurality of identically molded panels each having first and second predetermined laterally spaced vertical cutting lines and being formed with horizontal rows of laterally spaced simulated shake. The first panel of each alternate course in the vertical direction is cut along the first cutting line and the first panel of every other course is cut along the second predetermined cutting line, whereby the lowermost row of simulated shake of the panels of each course are automatically offset from the uppermost row of the panels in the course immediately therebelow.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1990Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Assignee: Nailite InternationalInventors: Dallas M. Patent number: 5072562Abstract: A wall covering comprising a plurality of plastic molded panels each having a relatively thin body portion formed with rows of simulated of shake shingles. The panels are mounted on a support surface, such as a wall or roof, in a plurality of vertically spaced horizontal courses with a lower marginal edge region of the panels in one course overlapping the upper marginal edge regions of the panels in the course immediately below and with side marginal edge regions of adjacent panels also overlapping. The overlapping marginal edge regions each are formed with a plurality of parallel water barrier ridges for impeding movement of water outwardly over the peripheral edges of the underlying marginal edge region, as well as into nail mounting holes. The water barrier ridges are discontinous so as to impede outward water movement, while allowing drainage of water in a downward direction.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1990Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Assignee: Nailite InternationalInventors: Dallas M.
