  • Patent number: 5897774
Abstract: In a centrifugal apparatus for separating wetting material carried on particulate matter or chips, such apparatus includes a truncated conical shaped bowl into which the particulate matter or chips are deposited for centrifugal separation. A number of equidistantly spaced and radially aligned vanes are secured to the inner surface of the bowl adjacent the truncated end to collect incoming particulate matter or chips, and to establish a buffer layer, reducing the abrasion on the bowl caused by the insertion of further particulate matter or chips.

  • Patent number: 5720879
Abstract: In a horizontal centrifugal apparatus for separating wetting material carried on chips, such apparatus includes a conically shaped bowl carrying vanes distributed about its inner face with the midpoint of the length of said vane lying on a radius from the horizontal axis of bowl rotation such that the vane leading ends and trailing ends are about fifteen degrees of the radius at the midpoint of such vanes to impose an impediment to the rate of erosion on the vanes.

  • Patent number: 5667681
Abstract: A vertical or horizontal centrifugal separator comprises a drive mechanism including a drive shaft. A flight assembly is attached to the drive shaft and is rotatably driven by it as is a screen assembly which includes a rotor that also is attached to the drive mechanism. The flight assembly generally has a frusto-conical central body with a plurality of spaced apart individual blades or flights aligned longitudinally on the exterior of the central body. The rotor is driven at a separate speed that the flight assembly. A perforated screen assembly is carried by the rotor and is positioned outwardly of the flight assembly. An inlet assembly is positioned above these other elements where material to be separated is fed into the separator through the inlet assembly. An improvement comprises a novel tip formed on each of the individual flights.

  • Patent number: 5558770
Abstract: A cone frustum is provided for a centrifugal separator to shield the area of the separator's screen at the top of the flight assembly from the initial impact of the material which is introduced into the separator. The cone frustum is spaced above the flight assembly and below the inlet to shield the portion of the screen that is at the top of the flight assembly. The cone frustum is spaced radially inwardly from the screen and outwardly from the outlet. The cone frustum shields the part of the screen which wears most quickly to extend the life of the separator's screen assembly. The cone frustum is partially perforated to allow for initial dewatering of the material introduced into the separator. The slope of the cone frustum is equal to or less than the slope of the screen of the separator.

  • Patent number: 4591868
Abstract: A retractable motor-driven antenna 10 of compact size and light weight capable of being supported at the top of a support tube 14. A molded plastic housing 12, 30 in part forms the drive motor. A drive transmission 34 for extending and retracting the antenna mast 15 uses a timing belt 78 and pulley wheels 61, 62 and includes an overrunning clutch 84 or energy storage and release interconnection 76 between a drive pulley wheel 261 and a motor output shaft that drives a flexible cord 46 connected to the antenna mast. A switch assembly within the housing includes automatically stops the drive when the mast reaches its extended or retracted position or is obstructed. A coupling between the molded plastic housing and an antenna support tube isolates the housing from road vibration.

  • Patent number: 4550220
Abstract: An insulator for covering a splice connection joining multiple exposed conductors. The insulator has an inner foam core and an outer plastic cover which together form an elongated sleeve that fits over the splice. The cover is flexed from an open position where the sleeve fits over the splice to a closed position where two interlocking edges extending along the length of the sleeve mate to hold the insulator in place. In combination, the core and cover prevent dust and moisture from reaching the splice and also prevent exposed conductor strands at the splice from coming in contact with other circuit portions.

  • Patent number: 4542383
Abstract: A motor operated antenna for an automobile. The antenna includes a number of telescoping collapsible sections which form a removable unit. A reversible electric motor is mounted next to a fixed antenna tube in which the unit is positioned. The motor raises and lowers the sections in response to a switch actuated by a user. In the event any of the sections comprising the unit are bent or broken a collar holding the unit in place in the tube is loosened and removed. The unit can be withdrawn from the tube and replaced with a new unit.

  • Patent number: 4531283
Abstract: A hand held splicing gun for splicing together exposed portions of a number of wires. The gun includes a frame and a trigger actuated valve that routes compressed air to two drive cylinders mounted to the frame. A first cylinder drives a pair of forming bars against a strip of splicing material. Working in conjunction with a shear block and a forming post, the bars first shear a band from the splicing material and then bend the band into a U-shape about the wires. The second drive cylinder drives a crimping bar against the band, causing the band to bend around the wires, securing them together.

  • Patent number: 4460420
Abstract: Plaster core laminated wallboard is repaired or finished with a repair article comprising a substantially rigid steel plate having integral teeth forcibly insertable into the wallboard to hold the article in place over the damaged area, and a flexible cover portion formed of wallboard facing paper overlapping the edges of the plate and bonded thereto. The thickness of the paper cover portion may be tapered toward the outer edges thereof to form a smooth transition from the cover portion to the existing wallboard surface. Holes in the plate near the edges or corners thereof provide for increased contact of wallboard repair compound with the paper cover portion. The article may be formed in different configurations for covering plumbing openings, exterior corners and elongated stress cracks or seams. The wallboard is repaired by cutting a recess into and through the paper surface lamination of said wallboard to the outline of the plate portion of the repair article.
