  • Patent number: 9109915
Abstract: An approach for generating one or more personalized travel routes based on recorded routes and calculated routes is disclosed. An apparatus and method determines to generate at least one intersection point between at least one calculated route and at least one recorded route, wherein the at least one calculated route and the at least one recorded route include one or more common endpoints, and cause a generation of at least one personalized route by causing a combination of one or more segments of the at least one recorded route with one or more other segments of the at least one calculated route based, at least in part, on the at least one intersection point. The apparatus and method to determine the personalized route can cause a filtering of the at least one recorded route based on at least one filtering criterion to determine one or more candidate recorded routes.

  • Patent number: 8856671
Abstract: The various embodiments of the present invention may be directed to a system for facilitating data processing in a visual manner. An application may include, inter alia, a basket component for visually representing the particular data items that a user desires to be processed by an application. The application may allow a user to initially search for data items that may be of interest (e.g., points-of-interest or POIs). A user may select POIs to obtain additional descriptive information regarding each data item. If the selected POI is to be included in processing, a user may drag the visual representation of the POI into the basket component. When the basket component contains all POIs desired for processing, the user may further instruct the application to formulate a result that is a composite of some or all of the POIs in the basket component.

  • Publication number: 20140298434
Abstract: Security of near-field communication (NFC) may be enhanced. A user authentication may be provided via a mobile device enabled as a first NFC device. The user authentication may be specified by an end user of the mobile device for permitting NFC with a second NFC device. The user authentication may be related to an environmental object or a perspective of the mobile device specified by the end user. It may be determined whether the mobile device and the second NFC device are in proximity to one another. When the mobile device and the second NFC device are in proximity to one another and a detected action performed by a user with the mobile device is substantially similar to the provided user authentication, NFC between the mobile device and the second NFC device may be permitted.

  • Publication number: 20140288821
Abstract: A method and apparatus for predicting the arrival time of a transit vehicle at a transit stop of a transit route is presented. The arrival time is predicted using historical location information of a plurality of vehicles that have previously traveled the route, location information of several of the most recent vehicles that have arrived at the stop, and current location information of a particular vehicle currently traveling the route. Values such as average arrival times and arrival time errors or variances are determined from the historical and recent location data. These values are used with the current location information to predict the arrival time of the particular vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20140270491
Abstract: In one embodiment, image detection is improved or accelerated using an approximate range query to classify images. A controller is trained on a set of training feature vectors. The training feature vectors represent an image. The feature vectors are normalized to a uniform length. The controller defines a matching space that includes the set of training feature vectors. The controller is configured to identify whether an input vector for a tested image falls within the matching space based on a range query. When the input vector falls within the matching space, the tested image substantially matches the portion of the image used to train the controller.
