Abstract: A mixed body made of at least nickel powder and electron emission agent powder is sintered through a hot isostatic pressing process to form a sintered body, and a cathode pellet is formed from the sintered body. Then, the cathode pellet Is inserted into a cup. Then, the cathode pellet and the cup are clamped between upper and lower welding electrodes each having approximately the same diameter as the cathode pellet, and the cathode pellet and the cup are subjected to resistance welding in this clamped state. Then, an assembly of the cathode pellet and the cup is inserted and fixed in an end portion of a sleeve, and a heater is inserted into the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5096450
Abstract: A method for fabricating an impregnated type cathode comprises the steps of mixing metal powder having a high melting point and a heat proof property, and electron emission substance powder in a dry state, pressing the mixed powder to provide a pressed mixture, and applying an isostatic pressure to the pressed mixture contained in a sealed capsule. At the mixing stage, the metal powder is heated by a high temperature lower than the melting point, and at the mixing stage, a sintered mixture is obtained. In this method, the steps are simplified and decreased in number to decrease a fabricating cost. Furthermore, no influence occurs in electron emission due to hydrooxides.

  • Patent number: 5029258
Abstract: A large screen image display device has a rear wall on which a plurality of striped vertical addressing electrodes are formed, a front wall to which a conductor and phosphor are laminated, and mutually spaced side walls to form an evacuated enclosure wherein the conductor and the addressing electrodes confront each other. Linear thermal cathodes are disposed in rows orthogonal to the addressing electrodes for emitting thermal-electrons. At least one modulation electrode is located between the thermal cathodes and addressing electrodes in parallel to the respective thermal cathode. Horizontal focusing deflection electrodes are arranged opposite to and in parallel to both sides of the thermal cathodes. A control circuit supplies control signals to the above mentioned electrodes for operating the device.

  • Patent number: 4652872
Abstract: A driving system for a display panel wherein a large number of data lines and scan lines are arranged in matrix fashion and wherein a display cell is disposed at each crossing point includes a row drive for supplying a first voltage to row side electrodes through the scan lines, a column drive for supplying a second or a third voltage to column side electrodes through the data lines, and a refreshing drive for supplying a reverse polarity voltage between the electrodes of each display cell after scanning of all the scan lines. The column drive performs a modulation drive by applying the voltages from the data lines selectively to the display cells according to an intended luminescence or non-luminescence of the cells. The row drive performs a write drive by sequentially applying the first voltage to the scan lines. The refreshing drive performs a refreshing operation by applying a predetermined refreshing voltage to the display cells after completion of the modulation and write drives.

  • Patent number: 4500867
Abstract: A joystick controller of the electrically non-contact type is provided with a pair of magnetosensitive elements having a magnetresistive effect. The magnetosensitive elements are placed fixedly on a stator member in a given relation at right angles to detect the rotary motion of a permanent magnet embedded in a rotor member movably supported by the stator member. Each of the magnetosensitive elements is supplied by a constant bias magnetic field generated by added magnets on the stator member to improve the sensing characteristics of the controller. In addition, a spring sheet member is assembled between surfaces of the rotor and stator members to afford appropriate feeling and handling for operation of the lever.

  • Patent number: 4486817
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an electrical circuit wiring assembly comprises the steps of preparing a first sub-assembly having a metal board chassis and a first circuit element provided with hard stiff leads, preparing a second sub-assembly having a second circuit element provided with soft thin leads and an eyelet terminal for connecting the soft thin lead to the hard lead by means of a soldered junction, and assembling the first and second sub-assemblies by a soldering operating to form a main wiring assembly. In the second sub-assembly the second circuit element and the eyelet terminal are carried temporarily on an unsolderable mounting tool. The first and second sub-assemblies are temporarily coupled to each other during the forming of the main assembly by means of a coupling tool or jig for applying molten solder to an exposed connecting portion of the eyelet terminal and to portions of the hard and soft leads extending from the eyelet terminal.

  • Patent number: 4423438
Abstract: A projection cathode ray tube is provided with elements for correcting a spherical aberration in the optical system. These elements include a correction lens disposed in front of the tube and a masking member adjustably mounted on the lens. The masking member partially covers peripheral surface portions of the lens in an adjustable manner to obtain a high image resolution on the screen with a minimum decrease in the image brightness. Preferably, the masking member is removable or adjustable in the form of a masking tape or divided shutter attached to partial portions of the front face of the lens for removing an undesired aberration with a minimized shuttering area. The projection tube comprises in combination with the correction lens, a tube envelope including a convex target and a concave mirror disposed opposite to each other and having the same center of curvature. This structure with the adjustable masking achieves a high quality reception or image projection.
