Abstract: A method of franking mailpieces in a franking machine, wherein: an operator loads a mailpiece on a feed deck of said machine; the width of the mailpiece is determined automatically by a plurality of presence detectors mounted on said feed deck; the length of the mailpiece is estimated by processor means of the machine, on the basis of said width of the mailpiece; an initial franking amount to be applied to the mailpiece is computed by said processor means; the mailpiece is extracted automatically from said feed deck, and a postal imprint is printed by print means of the machine; the real length of the mailpiece is determined by length measurement means of the machine; the real length is compared with the previously estimated length; if these two lengths do not match, an audible or visible alarm is generated by a warning device of said franking machine; said processor means compute a corrected franking amount; and a new postal imprint making it possible to correct the initial franking amount is printed.

Abstract: A secure system for tracking goods loaded on a delivery vehicle having a driver's cab and at least one container, said driver's cab being provided with a first RFID transponder disposed on any wall of said cab, and each of the containers is provided with at least two RFID transponders, one of which is disposed on any wall of said container and the other of which is disposed on each of the delivery doors of said container, each of said RFID transponders being designed to co-operate with a RFID reader/interrogator integrated into a mobile telephone of the driver of the vehicle, said mobile telephone being in communication with a management server via a mobile communications network.

Abstract: In a feeder of a mail handling machine, a conveyor device is provided that includes a plurality of a drive members controlled by a suitable drive mechanism and designed to pass through a mail item receiver bed of said feeder, and each of said drive members is constituted by a cylindrical wheel provided with a set of straight teeth formed by a plurality of teeth between which there are interposed a plurality of independent small rollers having axes perpendicular to the axis of the wheel.

Abstract: A feed module for feeding envelopes into a mail handling machine, which feed module comprises envelope conveyor means for conveying said envelopes through the feed module, separator means for selecting said envelopes one-by-one, moistener means for moistening a flap of the envelope selected in this way, and closure means for pressing the envelope closed and for ejecting it from the feed module, said closure means comprising two superposed extractor rollers, each of which has a respective ribbed portion that is made of a hydrophobic material and that extends over a width corresponding to at least the width of a print zone in which the postal imprint is to be printed.
