Patent number: 11901753Abstract: The present invention discloses a safety device adapted to prevent workers from going into hazardous environment, such as underground using the faulty safety device. As a safety device, typically embodied as a cap lamp, must be charged prior to each use, the device is adapted to detect when the device is removed from the charger. The device starts to blink continuously when disconnected from the charger. An automated test procedure is completed on the device. The user may also complete a manual portion of the test procedure to make the device usable. When the test procedure is completed successfully, the lamp stops blinking. If the test procedure is not successful, the lamp continues blinking to effectively prevent user from using a faulty device.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2022Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Assignee: Newtrax Holdings Inc.Inventor: Alexandre Cervinka

Patent number: 11756426Abstract: A method for acknowledging presence in a context-aware environment includes the steps of detecting, with at least one context awareness mechanism, if a context-aware device is within a predetermined range or distance. The method further includes, that when the vehicle device or personal device is within a range of the moving vehicle, sending a request of acknowledgment to the vehicle device or personal device. In events where the moving vehicle device does not receive an acknowledgment from another vehicle or a worker within a predetermined duration, the moving vehicle is automatically stopped. In events where the moving vehicle device receives an acknowledgment from all the devices within the predetermined range, the device of the moving vehicle considers the context as non-hazardous and the vehicle may continue along its path.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2019Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: NEWTRAX HOLDINGS INCInventors: Alexandre Cervinka, Martin Bouchard

Patent number: 10499308Abstract: There is described a system for sending, via a communication network, data originating from a monitoring of equipment in a network-inaccessible location. The system comprises a first interface device to be operated in a network-inaccessible location and comprising: sensors for monitoring a first equipment; a processor connected to the sensors for generating a data packet from the monitoring; and a local input/output (I/O) device for sending the data packet. The system further comprises a second interface device, to be displaced from the network-inaccessible location to a network-accessible location, comprising a local I/O device for receiving the data packet from the first interface device; and a network-connected I/O device to deliver the data packet via the communication network.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2016Date of Patent: December 3, 2019Assignee: Newtrax Holdings Inc.Inventors: Jacques Delarochelliere, David Brillon, Jean-Sebastien Bouchard

Publication number: 20150056924Abstract: A post-accident network probe and a method of using such a probe are disclosed. The probe is configured to be deployed in a confined environment (e.g. an underground mine), typically after an accident has occurred, in order to establish a connection with the wireless network, or a portion thereof, located therein. The probe generally allows the rescuers to determine the position of potentially trapped miners and can allow the rescuers to have access to environment-related information collected by the network, to get vital signs information, and/or to communicate with the trapped miners. The probe can be deployed using different access methods such as bore holes (existing or new), ventilation shafts, preventive installations of probes, etc. Notably, since the probe establishes a connection with the network, the location of the probe does not have to be exactly where the miners are located as long as the miners are tracked by the network.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2012Publication date: February 26, 2015Applicant: NEWTRAX HOLDINGS INC.Inventors: Serge Croteau, Alexandre Cervinka, Alexandre Buist, Wang Li, Pierre-Étienne Messier, Jean-François Lambert, Glenn David Patterson
