Patent number: 7740510Abstract: An electrode clamp (10; 100) for making contact with a film electrode and a snap electrode has a first part (12; 112), a second part (14; 114), and a contact element (60; 160). For clamping a film electrode, the two parts (12, 14; 112, 114) can be pivoted toward one another. In an initial state of the electrode clamp (10; 100), the first part (12; 112) and the second part (14; 114) have an offset (36; 136) relative to one another. The offset can be reduced by movement of the second part (14; 114) relative to the first part (12; 112) to such an extent that the snap electrode can be inserted into the electrode clamp. By a reset motion of the second part (14; 114) relative to the first part (12; 112) in the direction of the initial state, the snap electrode can be clamped against the contact element (60; 160) and contact can be made with the snap electrode. The electrode clamp (10; 100) can be connected in a mechanically detachable manner to the snap electrode.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2008Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Assignee: Nicolay Verwaltung GmbH.Inventor: Edwin Muz

Patent number: 6991607Abstract: A process and a device are provided for determining the proportion of a component of the air exhaled by a breathing living being that is characteristic of the metabolic function of such living being. The invention relates to a process for determination of a first component Aa,1 in the air exhaled by a patient that is characteristic of the metabolic function of the patient such as carbon dioxide (CO2) or oxygen (O2), where the exhaled air having at least two components (i=1, 2, . . . ) each having a proportion Aa,i. The molecular weights M; and the adiabatic coefficients ki of the components are known. The process measures the velocity of sound vS in the exhaled air, and the portion Ai,1 of the first component in the exhaled air is calculated by use of the measured velocity, at a temperature T of the exhaled air. The proportion of the component is determined by the equation MG/kG=R×T/(vs2), where MG=sum(Aa,i×Mi), i=1, 2, . . .Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2003Date of Patent: January 31, 2006Assignee: Nicolay Verwaltungs-GmbHInventors: Christof Muz, Edwin Muz

Patent number: 6780065Abstract: A device for electrical connection of a power lead to an electrode, in particular a medical skin electrode, includes a first contact element for plugging onto the contact stud of a first electrode. The first contact element has a first energy-storage or spring element biasing a contact zone of the first contact element into engagement with the contact stud of the first electrode. A second contact element has two clamp jaws for clamping a second electrode. The second contact element can be actuated to open by an actuating element pivotal around an axis, against the action or bias of an energy storage.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2003Date of Patent: August 24, 2004Assignee: Nicolay Verwaltungs-GmbHInventor: Dieter Schwarz

Patent number: 6606512Abstract: An arrangement for fixing a medical-technical sensor, particularly a pulsoximeter sensor, to a patient's body part includes a carrier for supporting a sensor and a longitudinal opening for receiving the body part. The carrier includes a foam material part elastically deformable for the fixing. The deformation provides a force-accumulation arrangement. The medical-technical sensor for measuring physiological data can be combined with such arrangement. The sensor includes optical electronic measuring parts arranged on the carrier.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2001Date of Patent: August 12, 2003Assignee: Nicolay Verwaltungs-GmbHInventors: Edwin Muz, Christof Muz

Patent number: 6402553Abstract: A plug connection arrangement or electrical connector includes at least one plug element with an electrical contact member to produce an electrical connection of a cable with a complementary contact member and a connection housing with at least one plug-holding fixture with the complementary contact member. An electrical shielding of the connection housing has a flexible shield contact spring extending into the plug-holding fixture and pre-biased for contacting the complementing contact member of the plug-holding fixture. A coaxial insulating body surrounds the contact member of the plug element in a contact-proof and shock-proof manner. A groove extends in the plug element exterior surface in a longitudinal direction, and holds the contact spring end part upon the insertion of the plug element into the plug-holding fixture.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2000Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: Nicolay Verwaltungs-GmbHInventors: Dieter Schwarz, Edwin Muz
