Abstract: The present invention provides a serum separating device and an apparatus for use in serum separation which is capable of completely separating serum and clot during the separation of a blood sample into serum and clot by means of a centrifugal separation operation.
Abstract: A machining apparatus for circumferentially machining a stationary shaft-like work-piece. An inwardly moving tool slide rest is mounted on a main spindle driving gear which is driven by a common gear. A feed gear is concentrically mounted with the main spindle driving gear and is also driven by the common gear but has a differing number of teeth from the main spindle driving gear. A cam surface in the feed gear interacts with a cam follower in the main spindle driving gear so that the relative rotation of the feed gear and the main spindle driving gear radially moves the cam follower, which radially drives the tool slide rest. The end of a machining cycle can be detected by a switch linked to the motion of the tool slide rest. Overload in the cutting can be detected by driving the main spindle driving gear and the feed gear with two gears, one of which can slip. Slippage indicates overload.
Abstract: An arm driving device for a fluid loading apparatus is disclosed, which comprises a V link comprised of a first link arm and a second link arm connected together rotatably at one end thereof and a hydraulic cylinder having a cylinder rod the top of which is rotatably connected to a suitable portion of either of the link arms, the other end of the first link arm being connected rotatably to a suitable portion of an extension member of an inboard arm of the fluid loading apparatus and the other end of the second link arm being connected rotatable to a suitable member fixedly connected to a stand pipe installed on land. The arm driving device may be applied to operate the outboard arm of the fluid loading apparatus with respect to the inboard arm.
Abstract: A fluid loading device for marine application in the form of a fixed, vertical, hollow supporting member fluid connected to a transfer pipe, has mounted thereto one end of an inner hollow arm through a bi-directional swivel joint, allowing the inner hollow arm to rotate freely about vertical and horizontal axes. An outer hollow arm is rotatably mounted for rotation vertically by means of a hollow swivel joint to the outer end of the inner hollow arm about a horizontal axis and carries at its outboard end a swivel joint for rotation vertically and horizontally. Polygonal cam plates which rotate in response to rotation of the outer arm are mounted on the inner and outer ends of the inner hollow arm and rotate with the outer hollow arm and a balancing counterweight, respectively. The cam plates rotate in unison through a loop created by an endless array of end to end linked rods which have an individual length equal to 1/n times the length of one side of the polygonal cam plate, with n being an integer.
