Abstract: An electromagnetic metal melt pump for pumping and delivery molten metal from a furnace, having a ground plate, an inductor attached to the ground plate, an inductor attached to the ground plate and including a laminated iron body having slots in which a multiphase winding is placed. A metal melt tank made of magnetizable material is provided with heat insulation and is attached to the laminated iron body. A suction tube (7) is coaxially placed in the metal melt tank (3), the suction tube (7) comprises three main parts: the first part is a suction tube (7c) having a volume (V.sub.4) for closing the magnetic circuit of the inductor between points A and B which determine the immersing depth; the second part is a buffer tank (7b) having a volume (V.sub.1) to produce a reduced pressure space between points B and C; the third part is a suction tube (7a) having a volume (V.sub.2) for creating a reduced pressure in the suction tube (7) immersed into the metal melt of the furnace.
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of filtering liquids in a vertical tower filter tank with a flat bottom and liquid inlet and outlet means for flowing liquid under pressure into a sand filter column in the tower tank causing the liquid to flow through distribution gaps which direct the flow horizontally through the filter into a collection pipe and upward out the outlet. In addition the filter is regenerated by backflowing washwater under pressure so the filter grains are slurried and the impurities are removed therefrom and washed out an overflow outlet. The apparatus for conducting the filtering and regeneration are also disclosed. The apparatus has a flat bottom and at least one perforated wall to divide the filter column into sections. There is an inlet for the washwater having a speed accelerating throat.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for transporting in alternating suction and displacement strokes of fluid substances, e.g., water, slurry, etc., by quanta by means of the potential energy of a primary liquid column by interposing a system of vessels sealed off from the atmosphere between the primary liquid column and the secondary fluid substance basis.
Abstract: One liquid is pumped to a higher elevation by another liquid. In a first stage, the pumping liquid is withdrawn from a chamber and the liquid to be pumped is thereby raised and drawn into the chamber by a siphon effect. In a second stage, the pumped liquid is forced out of the chamber and to a higher elevation by re-entry of the pumping liquid into the chamber.
