Patent number: 6256139Abstract: A plastic optical fiber continuous optical amplifier for continuously amplifying signal lights includes an exciting light tube with a double tube structure formed of an inner tube and an outer tube, and a plastic optical fiber (POF) coaxially provided inside the inner tube of the exciting light tube. The POF includes a core having an induced emission material therein and a larger refractive index, and a clad for holding the core and having a smaller refractive index than that of the core. The core and the clad are coaxially provided to the POF. It is preferable that electrodes of the exciting light tube have a ring shape to effectively excite.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1999Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Assignees: Nippon Aleph CorporationInventors: Kazuhito Fujii, Suguru Horinouchi, Takayoshi Ishikawa

Patent number: 6142007Abstract: The present invention provides a small and simple shock sensor which can be easily assembled. The shock sensor includes a hermetically sealed case extending along a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction in which a shock is to be detected and a fixed reed and a movable reed sealed inside the hermetically sealed case so as to extend in the lengthwise direction thereof. The movable reed is formed of a weight member and a supporting member which elastically supports the weight member. The shock sensor is structured so that when the weight member moves in the detected direction due to a shock, the contact of the tip of the weight member presses against the contact of the tip of the fixed reed and closes the space between the fixed reed and the movable reed.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1998Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: Nippon Aleph CorporationInventors: Kazunori Yuze, Hiromi Kashiwakura

Patent number: 6031456Abstract: A detector that can detect an obstacle in a detection field with simple configuration and at low cost is provided. In the detector 10 having a base 11 to be mounted on a ceiling, a wall, or the like, a sensor section 12 which is mounted on the surface of the base, and a cover which is mounted on the base so as to cover the sensor section, the detector 10 is configured such that a obstacle detection sensor 20 for detecting a change of reflectance on and around the surface of the cover can be provided outside the cover 13. The obstacle detection sensor 20 includes light emitting elements 25 and 26 for emitting light to locations on and around the surfaces of the cover, and a light receiving element 24 for receiving reflected light from those locations.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1998Date of Patent: February 29, 2000Assignee: Nippon Aleph CorporationInventor: Kenji Hanyuda

Patent number: 5880351Abstract: A vibration sensing element includes a hermetically sealed case, a fixed electrode member made of a nonmagnetic electrically conductive material and fixed to the case with its tip portion projecting into the case, a movable electrode member made of an electrically conductive magnetic metal material exhibiting elasticity and fixed to the case with its tip portion projecting into the case and making pressure contact with the fixed electrode member, and a magnetic member disposed to face the movable electrode member. A glass breakage sensor includes a casing for attachment to the glass, the vibration sensing element, and a resin molding encasing the vibration sensing element. The contact pressure between the fixed and movable electrode members can be noninvasively checked by applying a magnetic field thereto.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1997Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignees: Nihon Densi Kougaku Corporation, Nippon Aleph CorporationInventors: Koji Orita, Kazunori Yuze, Tsutomu Sugawara

Patent number: 5770792Abstract: A shock sensor including a magnetic reed switch extending in a direction in which shocks are to be detected, a member movable along the magnetic reed switch due to the shocks and including a magnet for imparting a magnetic force to the magnetic reed switch to turn on the magnetic reed switch, a coil spring for biasing the moving member toward one side of the magnetic reed switch, and an adjuster for adjusting the time duration in which the magnetic reed switch is on. The adjuster also reduces the moving speed of the moving member of adjusts the turn-on time when the magnetic reed switch is turned on.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1996Date of Patent: June 23, 1998Assignee: Nippon Aleph CorporationInventors: Tsutomu Nakada, Akira Fuse, Yoshiyuki Sugiyama, Yuji Tsuda, Okihiro Iwaki

Patent number: 5440084Abstract: A shock sensor including a switch turned on by magnetic force. The switch includes a reed switch, a magnet sliding back and forth along a case for the reed switch, and a coil spring biasing the magnet in a particular direction. When the sensor receives a shock, the biased magnet moves along the switch case, the magnetic force applied to the reed switch increases and when this magnetic force exceeds a predetermined amount, contact portions of the reed switch are closed and the switch is in the on state. Further, a weight forming an integral part of the magnet is used to increase the kinetic energy of the magnet or, between the coil spring and the switch case, there is a slack which enables movement of the coil spring in the direction of its diameter, either structure allowing the magnet to stay in the on state longer than a conventional switch.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1994Date of Patent: August 8, 1995Assignee: Nippon Aleph CorporationInventors: Akira Fuse, Yuji Tsuda, Tsutomu Nakada

Patent number: 5184149Abstract: In a combination of a magnetic card and a printing apparatus therefor, the magnetic card comprises a substrate made of a non-magnetic material, and a printing surface on at least a part of one side of the substrate. The printing surface has a coloring layer, a conductive layer and a protective layer. The coloring layer is located on the one side of the substrate, and the conductive layer is located between the coloring layer and the protective layer. The magnetic card further includes a magnetic recording layer formed on one of the one and other sides of the substrate. Magnetic information is magnetic-recorded on the magnetic recording layer.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1991Date of Patent: February 2, 1993Assignee: Nippon Aleph CorporationInventors: Tsugutoshi Tanaka, Soji Ishiwata

Patent number: 4837537Abstract: A reed switch device comprises a pair of magnets such as bar magnets or ring-shaped magnets which are arranged in inverted polar orientations such that they produce magnetic fields acting in opposite directions, and a reed switch which is movable relative to the pair of magnets such that the longitudinal axis of the reed switch is maintained substantially in parallel with the axes of magnetization of the magnets. The relative position between the reed switch and the magnets is detected through activation of the reed switch between on and off states caused in response to a change in the relative position between the pair of magnets and the reed switch.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Nippon Aleph CorporationInventors: Tsutomu Nakada, Yasuhiro Naka
