  • Patent number: 5209040
Abstract: A capsule sealing apparatus is provided which includes a capsule supplying device, a slat, a capsule conveyor unit, a capsule sealing device, a plurality of capsule retaining plates, a drying device, and a capsule discharging device. The capsule supplying device intermittently supplies a prescribed number of capsules at a time. The slat includes a plurality of capsule resting slits for individually accommodating the capsules. The capsule conveyor unit linearly reciprocates the slat, during which the capsules are individually accommodated in respective capsule resting slits. The capsule sealing device coats the seams of the capsules with a sealing liquid through the openings at the bottoms of the slits in the slat. The capsule retaining plates receives all the capsules thereon. The drying device vertically circulates the capsule retaining plate with the charged capsules thereon in the horizontal posture so as to dry the sealing liquid applied on each capsule.

  • Patent number: 4884602
Abstract: In a system for filling granular material into hard gelatin capsule wherein the granular material is portioned to a predetermined quantity by volume in a metering chamber and the portioned granular material mostly gravitates to a body of the hard gelatin capsule positioned beneath the metering chamber, an artificial force is exerted by a pusher rod on the granular material remaining in the metering chamber after the beginning of the gravitation. There also is an improved system for adjusting the capacity of the metering chamber. The improvements result in a greatly increased number of capsules which may be handled and filled at a time, a reduction in time required for the process and correspondingly in area occupied by the machine, and a remarkable improvement in the productivity. The uniformity and accuracy in the quantity of the granular material actually filled in the capsule are also remarkably improved.

  • Patent number: 4811802
Abstract: A metering operation in a capsule filling machine is controlled based on a correction signal derived from capsules just filled with material and ejected therefrom, by sampling/weighing these capsules, and by processing the weighed value to generate correction signal wherein: a first step of sampling/weighing is performed at the start-up stage of the capsule filling machine by collectively weighing a plurality of capsules sampled in bulk at once, and the second step of sampling/weighing is performed in subsequent steady operation stage by individual weighing each capsule from the bulk one by one.An apparatus for performing the method has a sampling chute bifurcated in alternatively switchable two paths; i.e., a direct path and a controlled path, which share a common terminal i.e., a scale pan of a balance.

  • Patent number: 4731979
Abstract: A capsule filling machine comprising a turntable supported for intermittent rotation about a vertical shaft. The turntable when at one work station receives in top-capped posture empty capsules each comprising an empty cup body having a cap body mounted thereon in telescopic fashion. The turntable is passed during one complete rotation through a plurality of work stations, at which the separation of the cap body from the cup body, the filling of a material into the cup body, the mounting of the cap body on the filled cup body to provide a filled capsule, and the ejection of the filled capsule are successively and sequentially performed. The empty capsule and the cap body, separated from the associated cup body, are conveyed along a horizontal circumferential path whereas the cup body in a region of separation is conveyed along a modified path including a side way extending outwardly and downwardly with respect to the horizontal circumferential path.

  • Patent number: 4353456
Abstract: A capsule orientation control method and an apparatus for effecting the method are disclosed. The method includes the steps of receiving and holding the capsules from a supply hopper in such a manner that the axes of the capsules are aligned with the radial direction of a rotary drum and that it can be visually and spatially identified whether the capsules are stably held in capsule accommodating pockets with the caps thereof radially outwardly orientated in an erect posture or radially inwardly orientated in an inverted posture through action of rotary brush means rotatably provided in a position adjacent to a portion of the rotary drum where the capsules are received onto the rotary drum from the supply hopper, and causing the capsules in the inverted posture to fall down within the capsule accommodating pockets in a predetermined direction so as to align positions of the caps thereof with positions of the caps of the capsules in the erect posture before removing the capsules.
