Abstract: A gas generator includes an elongated cylindrical housing main body and a plug which closes an axial end portion of the housing main body. The plug made of a metal includes a substantially columnar body portion, a first flange portion located on a side of a first end surface, and a second flange portion located on a side of a second end surface. An annular groove portion defined by the body portion, the first flange portion, and the second flange portion is located in a circumferential surface of the plug. A metal flow in a portion which appears in a surface layer of the circumferential surface of the plug including a surface of the annular groove portion continuously extends to reach the second end surface from the first end surface along the circumferential surface without discontinuity in the circumferential surface.

Abstract: A gas generator includes an elongated cylindrical housing, an accommodation chamber defining member arranged in the housing, a gas generating agent, and an autoignition agent. The sealed container is made of a member relatively low in mechanical strength so as to burst or melt as a result of burning of the gas generating agent. The partition member is made of a member relatively high in mechanical strength such that only a portion opposed to the hollow portion bursts as a result of burning of the gas generating agent to provide a communication hole which allows communication between the combustion chamber and the filter chamber with each other.

Abstract: A method for producing at least one oxidation product selected from the group consisting of acrolein and acrylic acid is provided. This method can alleviate concerns about deterioration of a gas-phase oxidation catalyst and reaction runaway in a restart period after a shutdown, and can allow the reaction to proceed in a stable state. Using a fixed-bed reactor filled with a gas-phase oxidation catalyst, at least one source gas selected from the group consisting of propylene and acrolein is subjected to a gas-phase contact oxidation reaction while a heating medium is caused to contact with or circulate through the fixed-bed reactor and thereby to heat the fixed-bed reactor. The temperature of the heating medium when the load is maximum in the restart period after the shutdown is controlled to be lower than the temperature of the heating medium when the load is maximum in an initial start-up period.
