  • Patent number: 5091010
Abstract: A titanium oxide-coated chromatic-color metal flake pigment is prepared by hydrolyzing an organic titanate ester compound, e.g., tetraisopropoxy titanium, in the presence of the base metal flakes suspended in an organic medium having a pH of 4 to 8. The pigment exhibits iridescent color tones of great aesthetic value delicately varying depending on the thickness of the titanium oxide coating layer. The pigment has high chemical stability, for example, against acids, by virtue of the very uniform and dense coating layer of titanium oxide so that the inventive pigment is useful as a coloring agent in a water-borne composition. Application fields of the inventive pigment include colored coating compositions, ink compositions, cosmetic preparations, molding compounds of plastic resins and so on.

  • Patent number: 5049401
Abstract: The present invention provides a product containing glucomannan mixed with encapsulated acidic material having a wall made of hydrophobic substance which melts at a temperature higher than the coagulating temperature of the glucomannan. Because this acidic material is covered with a wall, when alkali is added to the mixture which is then heated, the glucomannan is coagulated. Then, the wall of the encapsulated material is melted by heating to liberate acid, neutralizing the alkaline substance, and producing a slightly alkaline, neutral or acidic glucomannan coagulated product. Further, although the glucomannan coagulated product has a water- releasing property, this can be reduced by adding other natural polysaccharides. Also, a decrease of elasticity caused by neutralization can be eliminated by adding food cellulose.

  • Patent number: 4899658
Abstract: An electric detonator of the delay type including a housing having a metal portion and an insulating portion, a pair of leg wires extending outside through the housing, a delay circuit connected across the leg wires and generating an ignition current at a predetermined timing, and an igniting resistor connected to an output terminal of the delay circuit and one of the leg wires. In order to check the resistance value of the igniting resistor even after the detonator has been assembled, a by-pass resistor is connected between the other of the leg wires and a junction point between the delay circuit and the igniting resistor. A small measuring current is conducted through the igniting resistor via the by-pass resistor to generate a voltage drop across the igniting resistor. This voltage drop is measured by connecting a voltage measuring device between the leg wire and the metal portion of the housing.
