  • Patent number: 8442148
Abstract: A method codes data in a transmitted signal. The transmitted signal comprises multiple subcarriers with orthogonal frequencies. The signals are modulated corresponding to a given subset of the subcarriers of the transmitted signal in order to encode information. The signal is modulated corresponding to least one reserved subcarrier depending on at least one optimization criterion relating to a quality of the overall transmitted signal. In order to enhance the quality of the transmitted signal, the optimization criterion depends on at least one first quantity relating to a peak-to-average-power ratio of the transmitted signal and on at least one second quantity relating to an out-of-band power of the transmitted signal.

  • Patent number: 8422572
Abstract: In a method and/or an OFDM device for SC-FDMA data transmission, a sequence of input data is transformed by means of a discrete transformation as transformed data signals of coded and modulated data signals on first frequency channels into a first frequency space over a first number of frequencies. The transformed data signals are mapped on second frequency channels in a second frequency space with a larger second number of frequencies. The transformed data signals on the second frequency channels are inverse-transformed using an inverse transformation. Data inversely transformed in such a way are provided for transmission. The transformed data signals are mapped into a frequency range of the second frequency channels in such a way that a constant component of the transformed data signals is mapped centrally within the frequency range.

  • Patent number: 8391777
Abstract: This invention provides a type of method used for providing channel aware relays in enhanced relay clusters. This method is based on the Centralized Cluster Relay Implementation Proposal, and is implemented by transferring MMR-BS channel information based functions to RS. Specifically, in this invention, RS receives authorization from the MMR-BS to receive the channel information from the MS or next single-hop RS point within its single-hop range, and, after performing applicable channel aware relays, reports the processing result to MMR-BS; MMR-BS configures the signal according to the processing result and joins RS to transmit the control signal to the cluster MS. Using the method provided by this invention can reduce the channel overhead between MMR-BS and RS, and at the same time ensure that the RS composition is simple, and the production costs are low.

  • Patent number: 8374158
Abstract: An operational method interfaces a second communication network containing an access node with a first communication network encompassing a contact node. In a first step, an access node reads or receives an identity which is specific for the second communication network and is stored in a storage medium of a memory node. Then an interfacing message containing the identity that is specific for the second communication network is transmitted from the access node to the contact node, which is defined by an address stored in the storage medium. A packet data service to the access node is supplied by the contact node such that the second communication network is interfaced with the first communication network. An assembly and a storage medium are provided for interfacing the second communication network with the first communication network.

  • Patent number: 8358743
Abstract: While determining a leak resistance of a subscriber connection line provided, for example, with two wires in a communication network, a capacitor connected between two said wires is discharged prior to measuring leakage currents. For this purpose, prior to be connected to a high resistance of the other wire, the measurable wire and the other mentioned wire are supplied with a constantly falling and increasing voltage. For that, the final value of said tensions is determined in such a way that, when the connection to the high resistance of the other wire is produced, the voltage of said wire is equal to 0 volt. The leakage current is measured only when the discharge process is over, thereby making it possible to avoid an incorrect measurement caused by a current coming from the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 8320237
Abstract: A method for minimizing bandwidth allocation for alternative routes within a network provides a management system for managing routes of services, provides a plurality of guaranteed bandwidth (GWB) services, assigns to each GBW-service a traffic class (TC), and calculates for each GBW-service of a protected TC an active route and an alternative route. The active route is a planned route in case of absence of a respective network failure and the alternative route is the route which guarantees that, in case of a network failure with respect to the active route, the GBW-service is protected. Further, a first optimized protection mode is provided to be assigned to all the GBW-services belonging to a given protected TC. The first optimized protection mode has a first optimization step including reserving bandwidth for each GBW-service only once for each network resource employed by the active and/or the alternative route of each GBW-service.

  • Patent number: 8305962
Abstract: A heterogeneous wireless communication network includes a home access network with a home network characteristic and a home network policy, and a visiting access network with a visiting network characteristic and a visiting network policy. A packet data node gateway is adapted to communicate with the home access network and the visiting access network over a first communication path. An out-of-band communication path substantially separate from the first communication path is adapted to carry the visiting network policy from the visiting access network to the packet data node gateway. When the terminal is handed off from the home network to the visiting network, the packet data node gateway retrieves the visiting network policy, and the terminal accesses the visiting network over the first communication path using the visiting network policy.

  • Patent number: 8306009
Abstract: A method of selecting suitable frequency bands for data transmission between a network node and a user equipment within a mobile communications network. A method selects suitable frequency bands for data transmission between a network node and user equipment within a mobile communications network. A scheduler on the network node side selects data transmission mode depending on the user equipment capability of receiving data from at least two frequency bands simultaneously. The scheduler preferably selects the data transmission mode in the following way: simultaneous data transmission over at least two frequency with or without splitting traffic data or data transmission over only one available frequency band. For data transmission, a radio frame structure (Big MAC element) is dynamically established in the so-called medium access control layer, shortened so-called MAC-layer, by using concurrent radio resources from other frequency bands or other radio access technologies.
