Patent number: 8266266Abstract: Systems and methods for selectably controlling and customizing source access to a network, where the source is associated with a source computer, and wherein the source computer has transparent access to the network via a gateway device and no configuration software need be installed on the source computer to access the network. A user may be prevented access from a particular destination or site based upon the user's authorization while being permitted to access to other sites that the method and system deems accessible. The method and system can identify a source without that source's knowledge, and can access customizable access rights corresponding to that source in a source profile database. The source profile database can be a remote authentication dial-in user service (RADIUS) or a lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) database. The method and system use source profiles within the source profile database to dynamically authorize source access to networks and destinations via networks.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2010Date of Patent: September 11, 2012Assignee: NOMADIX, Inc.Inventors: Joel E Short, Florence C. Patent number: 8234409Abstract: An intelligent network address translation system and methods for intelligent network address translation. In one embodiment, a network packet is received from a host device, and a stored record associated with the host device is identified. The stored record includes information relating to connection parameters associated with the host device. Using the stored record, a processor determines whether the network packet should be assigned a dedicated address. If so, then the network packet is transmitted using communication parameters including a dedicated IP address. If the packet should not be assigned a dedicated address, then the packet is transmitted using connection parameters including a default public IP address and a port number.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2011Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: NOMADIX, Inc.Inventors: Amit Paunikar, Bikramjit Singh

Publication number: 20120185586Abstract: An embodiment is a method of managing bandwidth, performed by a computing system. The system receives user-selected connection parameters associated with a subscriber device. The system associates a network identifier of the subscriber device with a group bandwidth policy, based on the user-selected connection parameters. The system stores, in computer-readable storage media, parameters associated with the group bandwidth policy, in association with the network identifier of the subscriber device. The system receives, at a gateway device, network communication data from the subscriber device. The system limits, at the gateway device, bandwidth available to the network communication data, based on the stored parameters associated with the group bandwidth policy.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2012Publication date: July 19, 2012Applicant: Nomadix, Inc.Inventor: Vadim Olshansky

Patent number: 8190708Abstract: A gateway device and associated method are provided that facilitate communications with external devices by utilizing a uniform communications format. The gateway device includes a subscriber interface for adapting to a subscriber computer that is connected to the gateway device. The subscriber interface facilitates communications between the subscriber computer and at least one network or on-line service without requiring the subscriber computer to be reconfigured and without requiring the subscriber computer to support XML commands and responses. The gateway device also includes an XML interface for communicating with an external device via a series of XML commands and responses. The XML commands and responses can relate to a variety of matters, including various subscriber management matters.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2000Date of Patent: May 29, 2012Assignee: NOMADIX, Inc.Inventors: Joel E. Short, Ray S. Ewan, Jerome Sorcsek

Publication number: 20120030737Abstract: Systems and methods of authorizing a portable communication device to access a network resource. In an embodiment, a request to access a network resource is received from a portable communication device via a network. A processor is used to dynamically and selectively determine whether the portable communication device is authorized to access the requested network resource. The determination may be based on a unique identifying attribute associated with the portable communication device without the unique identifying attribute being predefined in a user profile database and without querying the portable communication device or its user for information. If the portable communication device is authorized, it may be allowed to access the network resource. Otherwise, it may be redirected to an authentication system where it may be enabled to submit authentication-related information so that it may be authorized to access the requested network resource.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2011Publication date: February 2, 2012Applicant: NOMADIX, INC.Inventors: Florence C.I. Publication number: 20110317693Abstract: Systems and methods of enabling a user host device to communicate on a network. In an embodiment, a system receives a request packet from a user host device. The request packet, such as an ARP request packet, may include a target IP address that corresponds to a static IP address that is different from any IP address associated with the system. In response to receiving the request packet, the system may send a response packet, such as an ARP response packet, with a sender address that corresponds to the static IP address, and with a sender hardware address that corresponds to a hardware address of the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2011Publication date: December 29, 2011Applicant: NOMADIX, INC.Inventors: Joel E.
