Abstract: There is disclosed a method of distributing a liquid composition over the ground from travelling equipment, the composition comprising an active ingredient, in which method the concentration of the active ingredient in the liquid composition is varied in dependence on the speed of the travelling equipment over the ground, the liquid composition also comprising a viscosity modifying agent, the method comprising varying the relative proportion of the viscosity modifying agent in the liquid composition in dependence on the speed of the travelling equipment, thereby to control the viscosity of the liquid composition. Also disclosed is equipment for use in the aforesaid method.

Abstract: A rotary element for distributing a liquid such as a herbicide comprises liquid distributing projections (58) which have swept-back leading boundary surfaces (64) which are arcuately convex. Each projection (58) has a transverse surface (62) which is arcuately concave and extends forwardly from one axial end of the respective leading boundary surface (64), with respect to the direction of operative rotation of the element. This configuration enables the spray width of the liquid to be reduced.
Abstract: A container 12, for example for containing herbicide for delivery means of a hand-held applicator, has a guide rib 84 for assisting guidance of the container 12 with respect to a handset 2 of the applicator as the container 12 is fitted to the handset 2. The container 12 also has a latching recess 20 for cooperation with a latching element 44 provided in the handset, to retain the container 12 with respect to the handset. The rib 84 tapers in the direction from a base 66 of the container towards an outlet 16, so that the fit between the rib 84 and a slot 24 in a guide 22 on the handset becomes progressively tighter as the container is inserted.
Abstract: A container for liquid such as herbicide has a internal flexible partition dividing the interior of the container into two compartments, one of which is liquid filled and communicates with an outlet, while the other communicates with the surroundings through a vent hole. The wall of the container has recesses for engagement by latching elements of delivery equipment to retain the container with respect to the delivery equipment.
