    Abstract: A method for terminating a telecommunications cable where the cable comprises a plurality of twisted pairs of wires. The method comprises the steps providing an interconnection module comprising a pair of contacts for each of the twisted pairs, aligning the end portions and interconnecting each of the aligned end portions with a corresponding pair of conductive contacts. The aligning step comprises arranging the end portions such that when connected to the contact pairs, the twisted pairs remain uncrossed. A wire lead guide for isolating the end portions of a plurality twisted pairs of wires an a connector assembly using the same. The guide comprises a guide body and a plurality of non-intersecting passageways through the body. Each of the passageways is comprised of an entrance and an exit. The end portions of one of the twisted pairs are inserted through a corresponding one of the passageways. The passageways isolate the twisted pairs of wires from one another.

The box is constructed to retain the coil securely and utilize material in an efficient manner. The box may include a payout tube that extends from a point outside of the box through a wall of the coil and into an interior point of the coil. The box serves to retain such a payout tube with an efficient amount of material and also provides for an improved method of assembling the box, the coil, and the payout tube.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for discharging accumulated static charge in unshielded twisted pair cables. According to one example, an electrical jack includes a housing having an opening defined therein through which a mating plug is received, a grounding strip, and at least one elastically deformable signal contact residing within the housing. As the mating plug is received, the elastically deformable signal contact may move from a position in contact with the grounding strip to a position not in contact with the grounding strip, thereby discharging static charge from the unshielded twisted pair cables and allowing normal connection to the mating plug.

    Abstract: A punch down insulation displacing connector housing is a body made of plastic which surrounds the connector. The housing restrains the connector parts from longitudinal movement when the connector is positioned to be press fit onto or to be soldered onto a substrate such as a printed circuit board. The housing also aligns the opening of the connector with an opening slot on the body. Thus, the housing aligns a connection tool head used to insert a wire with the opening of the connector. This housing will stop movement of the connection tool head during wire insertion to position the wire inside the connector at a desired position. Also, the housing offers a surface where the connection tool head will stop and cut the wire. This housing is used on a compact electrical connector and will surround the connector. The housing can accept various types of connection tool head.

    Abstract: A high performance modular connector system includes a plug and a jack both arranged for high frequency data transmission. The plug is constructed for coupling in a mating arrangement with the jack both including a plurality of contacts arranged to provide conductive paths for carrying a high-frequency data signal. The connector system includes several counter-coupling or compensation structures, each having a specific function in cross-talk reduction. The compensation structures are designed to offset and thus electrically balance frequency-dependent capacitive and inductive coupling. One important type of the compensation structure is located near contact points forming the conductive paths between connector terminals of the jack and connector terminals of the plug. This compensation structure is conductively connected to at least some of the contacts and is located outside the conductive path carrying the high-frequency data signal.
