  • Patent number: 7791778
Abstract: An image processing apparatus comprises a boundary line position storage section storing position information on boundary lines for dividing an image according to an image data unit into regions; a position information changing section to change the position information on boundary lines; and a dividing section to divide the image data unit into partial image data units corresponding to the respective regions. When a boundary line stored in the boundary line position storage section is across a principal part of the image, the position information changing section changes the position of the boundary line so as not to be across the principal part. When the regions divided by the boundary lines stored in the boundary line position storage section, includes a region that exceeds the maximum print size, the position information changing section changes the positions of boundary lines so that any region does not exceed the maximum print size.

  • Patent number: 7785436
Abstract: A laminating apparatus and a laminating method for finely finishing laminate processing without performing edge processing after the laminate processing is performed to a recording medium. A laminate material having a size larger than that of the recording medium is placed to cover the recording medium, bonded with heat and pressure, and a laminate layer protruding from the recording medium is transferred to a means to be transferred to, which is arranged on an opposite plane side to a recording plane of the recording medium. When the means to be transferred to is arranged apart on the opposite plane side to the recording medium, the laminate layer is pulled into the opposite plane side to the recording medium. As a result, an edge of the laminate layer formed on the recording plane of the recording medium becomes fine, matching with an edge of the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 7697784
Abstract: There is provided a method of reducing block noise, mosquito noise and other image noises in an image by a filtering process using a smoothing filter, which block noise, mosquito noise and other image noises being caused at the time of decoding encoded, compressed image data on a block-by-block basis. The method includes changing the extent or intensity of the image noise reduction in the filtering process in a continuous or stepwise manner according to an output size or expansion rate of an image to be outputted to printer paper, photographic paper or other output media, thereby allowing the extent or intensity of the image noise reduction to be increased as the output size or expansion rate of the image increases. This method is capable of allowing the extent of the image noise reduction applied to image data to be perceived in a similar fashion, irrespective of the output size.

  • Patent number: 7692830
Abstract: A luminance nonuniformity adjustment module for eliminating luminance nonuniformities in light emitting elements determines a luminance correction coefficient for each light-emitting element through a test print. The luminance nonuniformity adjustment module comprises a provisional luminance correction coefficient calculation unit, an improper coloring degree calculation unit and a luminance correction coefficient determination unit. The provisional luminance correction coefficient calculation unit calculates a provisional luminance correction coefficient by comparing a measured density value for a grayscale chart and a predetermined target density value. The improper coloring degree calculation unit calculates an improper coloring degree, which is the degree of improper coloring that occurs when other colors are expressed when developing a specific color, from the measured density values for the grayscale chart and an unbalanced chart in which the gray balance has been altered.
