Patent number: 5597218Abstract: A wedge-like structure which is interposable between an object and its supporting substrate surface and whose thickness is adjustable for purposes of adjusting the tilt angle of the object relative to the substrate surface. The structure is comprised of a stack of generally flattened component members wherein a layer of a releasable adhesive composition is located between and bonded to adjacent component members that can have various configurations. The wedge-like structure is particularly well adapted for incorporation into a monitor support assembly that is located under a transparent window in the top portion of a work station so that the monitor tilt angle is adjustable relative to the assembly by the wedge-like structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1995Date of Patent: January 28, 1997Assignee: Nova Manufacturing & Assembly, Inc.Inventor: John N. Lechman

Patent number: 5544594Abstract: An adjustable monitor support assembly for a monitor is positioned under a transparent portion in the top surface member of a desk-like structure. The support assembly utilizes a shelf member that is supported by laterally outwardly extending associated stub shafts. A pair of rails is provided and each one thereof is located along a different lateral side of the shelf member. The stub shafts slidably engage the rails so that the shelf member is movable relative to the rails. Retaining members for holding the shelf member at a desired location along the rails are provided. Since the rails are parabolically curved, the monitor is movable with the front face being generally perpendicular to the eye levels of various seated users.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1995Date of Patent: August 13, 1996Assignee: Nova Manufacturing & Assembly, Inc.Inventor: Edward C. Schairbaum

Patent number: 5410972Abstract: An adjustable monitor suspending assembly is provided for a monitor that is positioned under a transparent portion in the top surface member of a desk-like structure. The suspending assembly is adjustable and suspends a forward upper region and a rearward upper region of the monitor. The suspending assembly avoids the need for a shelf member for supporting lower portions of the monitor.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1992Date of Patent: May 2, 1995Assignee: Nova Manufacturing & Assembly, Inc.Inventor: Edward C. Patent number: 5408939Abstract: A self-supporting, stable support structure is disclosed for positioning and supporting a monitor and also optionally for supporting a slidable keyboard tray. The support structure is also adapted for association with, and for support of, a top platform member that includes a transparent portion. The support structure includes a monitor support shelf member, a pair of side supports which are each equipped with a U-configured unitary frame having a pair of legs and a cross member. A plurality of transversely extending, vertically spaced load bearable wire members extend between each pair of legs. Adjustable connector assemblies connect the shelf member with selected members of each side support. Optionally but preferably, each side support also includes a transverse cross bar which is configured to support a drawer slide in combination with an associated respective leg member; thus, the support structure can also support a horizontally slidable keyboard tray.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1993Date of Patent: April 25, 1995Assignee: Nova Manufacturing & Assembly, Inc.Inventor: John N. Patent number: 5294193Abstract: A desk structure is provided that is adapted for use in a modular work environment. The desk structure has a transparent portion in its top member and incorporates a pair of side walls, a bottom shelf, and a back brace. The desk structure is cooperatively associated with an underdesk adjustable monitor support assembly. The support assembly incorporates a shelf member and a pair of side supports and such are all preferably comprised of formed wire. Each side support is associated with desk components including adjacent portions of one side wall, the top member, the bottom shelf, and the back brace. The shelf member is adjustably associated with the side supports.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1991Date of Patent: March 15, 1994Assignee: Nova Manufacturing & Assembly, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Wegman, John N. Lechman

Patent number: 5290099Abstract: A self-upholding, free-standing adjustable monitor support structure that is adopted for association with, and for support of, a top platform member that includes a transparent portion. The monitor support structure includes a shelf member, a pair of side supports which are each equipped with a pair of legs and a plurality of transversely extending, vertically spaced load bearing members, and adjustable connector means for connecting the shelf member with each side support. Optionally but preferably, the side supports also each include a transverse bar which is configured to support a drawer slide in combination with an associated leg member; thus, the monitor support structure can also support a horizontally slidable keyboard tray. The combination of the monitor support structure and the top platform member provides a useful work station.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1993Date of Patent: March 1, 1994Assignee: Nova Manufacturing & Assembly, Inc.Inventor: John N. Patent number: 5205631Abstract: A platform structure is provided that is suitable for incorporation into a drawer, a slidable tray, a storage pedestal, or the like. The platform structure comprises a formed thermoplastic sheet member which has desired compartments defined therein, and an underlying frame structure, preferably wood or a wood-containing material. Contacting surfaces are bonded together with an adhesive. Rails can be mounted along opposite side walls for slide purposes, as in a drawer or tray assembly. Alternatively, rear facial portions of the frame structure can be connected to the top of a storage pedestal or the like.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1991Date of Patent: April 27, 1993Assignee: Nova Manufacturing & Assembly, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Wegman, John N.
