Abstract: A measuring device is provided for measuring one or more properties, such as thickness and tension profiles of a thin object, especially a fabric. The measuring device includes an upper mobile member adapted to be placed on the top side of the thin object, a lower mobile member adapted to be placed on the bottom side of the thin object, directly below the upper mobile means, magnets for holding together the upper and the lower mobile members with the thin object in between without damaging the thin object, and a measuring device provided on at least one of the mobile members for measuring the properties of the thin object. The mobile members are moveable together or separately across the surface of the thin object.

Abstract: A support for the reed of a seam-weaving machine for joining the ends of a flat-woven, paper-making fabric by means of a woven seam includes a reed having reed dents for the shifting of the auxiliary weft threads against the fell. The reed dents are pivotally mounted and press successively against the auxiliary weft thread to be shifted starting from the fabric end from which the auxiliary weft threads protrude as a warp fringe. In order that the reed dents are gradually shifted by the movement of the sley, the reed dents are staggerable in their position such that the points at which the reed dents touch the auxiliary weft thread to be shifted lie roughly on a straight or slightly curved line whose distance from the fell increases, starting from the point of emergence of the auxiliary weft thread from the fabric end.

Abstract: A seam-weaving machine for making a fabric endless by a woven seam is provided with a fringe catcher adjacent the edge zone of the woven seam. The fringe catcher, after a shed change, is moved forward beyond the fell by a drive device and upon return of the fringe catcher, draws an upwardly protruding fringe thread away to the rear above the already formed part of the woven seam.

Abstract: A seam-weaving machine for the production of a continuous plastics woven fabric by a woven seam with a Jacquard machine (1) for the formation of the weaving shed. The Jacquard machine (1) is arranged underneath the weaving shed (11) and the harness cords (8) are drawn back by tension springs (15) secured above the weaving shed (11). The Jacquard machine (1) is so arranged that the harness cords (8) emerge downwardly from the Jacquard machine and are deflected upwardly through the weaving shed (11) to the tension springs (15).

Abstract: An adjustable harness guide for the Jacquard machine of a seam-weaving machine in which the harness cords are drawn back by tension springs which are secured in a grille. The harness cords are guided through a harness board and the weaving shed is located between the grille and the harness board. The grille and the harness board are adjustable in their angle position relative to the course of the harness cords. The grille and the harness board are connected by a rod linkage system so that they move synchronously. The grille and the harness board are each formed of two halves connected to each other by a hinge with the axis of the hinge running parallel to the warp threads of the seam-weaving shed.

Abstract: A draw-through gripper for the gripping and insertion of an auxiliary weft thread into a seam-weaving shed in a seam-weaving machine includes a movable gripper arm with a gripping collet for grasping the auxiliary weft thread. An apparatus for measuring the mechanical stress occurring inside the gripper arm is mounted on the gripper arm. The apparatus for measuring the mechanical stress occurring within the gripper arm can be a strain gauge.
