  • Publication number: 20070055426
Abstract: A steering angle sensor detects a rotational angle of a steering system whose steering is assisted by driving of an electric motor via a reduction mechanism so as to calculate a steering angle of a steering wheel. The steering angle sensor has: a sensor wheel operating simultaneously with rotation of a steering shaft; and an absolute angle calculating means for calculating an absolute steering angle based on a steering angle signal from the sensor wheel. The sensor wheel has a GMR element and a magnetizing portion which is arranged around the GMR element, and the rotational angle is detected with two turns of the steering shaft being one cycle based on a change in resistance value of the GMR element obtained by changing a magnetic field direction according to rotation of the magnetizing portion.

  • Patent number: 7187154
Abstract: The present invention provides a motor drive apparatus capable of calculating an angular velocity and a rotation angle accurately in the entire rotation velocity range of a motor using a cheap Hall sensor having an inferior accuracy without using an expensive resolver having a high accuracy. The present invention includes a first angular velocity calculating means for calculating the angular velocity based on the back-EMF of the motor when it rotates at low speeds and a second angular velocity calculating means for calculating the angular velocity based on a signal from the Hall sensor when it rotates at high speeds. According to the present invention, the angular velocity and rotation angle can be calculated accurately in the entire rotation speed range using the Hall sensor under hybrid usage.

  • Patent number: 7183681
Abstract: In an electric power steering apparatus that generates an auxiliary steering torque by a brushless motor in response to a steering torque applied on a steering wheel and transmits it to an output shaft of a steering mechanism while reducing it by means of a reduction gear, the apparatus comprises a rotor (10) to which a cylindrical permanent magnet for rotational driving (12) and a member to be detected (13) for detection of a rotational angle of the rotor are attached and a cylindrical stator (30) opposed to the rotor in which a laminated core (16) on which a coil is wound, detection means (17) for detecting the rotational angle of the rotor by the member to be detected and a terminal (19) for providing connection to the coil are integrally formed by resin molding. At least one bearing (8, 9) for rotatably supporting the rotor is disposed radially inside the stator and between the permanent magnet for rotational driving and the member to be detected.

  • Patent number: 7152320
Abstract: In relation to a rocker arm obtained by applying cold forging to a blank made from a metal wire rod, cold forging is applied to a blank obtained by cutting a metal wire rod to a predetermined length to make a second intermediate blank 34b having a pair of side wall sections 2a and a base 39 which connects the two side walls 2a at one of their respective widthwise edges. Punching is applied to the base 39 of this second intermediate blank 34b to form a first and a second connection sections. In the case where it is assumed that a roller 35 is arranged at a position corresponding to an arrangement position of the roller 35 of the rocker arm to be obtained, on the inside of the second intermediate blank 34b which is to be subjected to punch processing, the roller 35 and the base 39 do not interfere with each other. As a result, performance improvement of an engine fitted with this rocker arm is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20060117889
Abstract: A torsion coil spring 30 applies an elastic force to a worm shaft 29 in a direction towards a worm wheel, via a pre-load pad 70. The pre-load pad 70 restricts displacement in relation to the widthwise direction, by one side face portion of a holder 61 fixed to a gear housing 22. Due to the elastic deformation of the pre-load pad 70 itself based on the elastic force of the torsion coil spring 30, the side face of the pre-load pad 70 is abutted against the one side face portion of the holder 61, so that a gap between the pre-load pad 70 and the one side face portion is minimized. As a result, the occurrence of a teeth fitting noise in the worm reduction gear 16 is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 7045998
Abstract: A steering output part is fixed with a worm wheel for power assist. By a spur gear formed on the worm wheel, an input gear of a detecting unit is rotated with a speed increase. Within the detecting unit, provided is a speed-reducing mechanism for speed-reducing the rotation of the detecting shaft. By this speed reduction, a detection rotating member provided in a case rotates at an angle of 1:1 to the rotation of the steering output part, a rotation angle of which is detected by a detecting element.

  • Publication number: 20040159173
Abstract: Disclosed here is a steering column apparatus that enables a single operation lever provided apart from the steering wheel and to be used for clamping/unclamping each of the telescopic mechanism and the tilting mechanism independently, as well as for keeping at least one of the telescopic mechanism and the tilting mechanism unclamped after it is unclamped even after the driver takes his/her hand off the operation lever. This makes it possible for the driver to use both hands to adjust at least either the position in the front-rear direction or tilting angle of the steering wheel.
