  • Patent number: 4947635
Abstract: This invention relates to a procedure for splicing yarns, whether textile or otherwise, with a joint made by coupling two single untwisted yarns and thereafter retwisting them, wherein the single yarns are untwisted beyond a substantially nil twist value and are then coupled and retwisted so as to impart to the single yarns a desired twist at least the same as the twist comprised in the original yarn, the untwisting phase being carried on beyond the nil value until a negative twist value has been imparted which is equal to at least 15-20% of the initial twist value comprised in the single yarn, and the value of the negative twist being at least in proportion to the desired reciprocal thrust induced between the yarns at least in the transitory phase when the fibers are parallel to the axis of the single coupled yarns during retwisting. The invention also relates to a splice made by the above procedure.

  • Patent number: 4716743
Abstract: A method and device for needle selection in a circular knitting machine, by which the jacks are inactivated by causing a plurality of slides to approach the peripheral surface of the cylinder in order to come into contact with the jack selection butts. Slides are selectively retained in the approached position to implement the inactivation while allowing the other slides to withdraw. The inactivation is implemented starting approximately from the half revolution following that in which the approach has taken place. The selection action is effected by electromagnetic devices, the action of which is programmed revolution by revolution of the circular machine.

  • Patent number: 4698960
Abstract: A friction open-end spinning process wherein the fibers of the feeding fiber sliver, once separated into discrete fibers, are sucked by a suction slot on a revolving twister element provided with a perforated surface, to feed the free end of the yarn being formed. The process is characterized in that the fibers are fed in a direction parallel to the free end of the yarn being formed, are kept under an adjustable tension throughout the twisting operation, and are subjected to a progressively increasing twist from the open end of the yarn being formed onwards. The device embodying the above process uses a revolving flat disc provided with perforations arranged according to an annulus as the twister element. This element cooperates with a sucking slot, the edge of which, consituting the yarn formation line, is positioned according to a chord of the disc.

  • Patent number: 4354343
Abstract: The invention provides an injector having a suitably formed head which can partially penetrate through a lateral aperture in a spindle into the vicinity of a chamber containing an expansible capsule.Penetrating into the chamber, the injector laterally displaces the capsule and by injecting through a beak a fluid under pressure creates in the axial passage a negative-positive pressure necessary for transporting the filament. In the vicinity of the chamber there can advantageously be provided a mobile section which is circumferentially displaceable by a projection which is included on the head of the injector, when the injector penetrates or is penetrating the spindle. The injector is further provided with an arm which may be pivoted in the vicinity of the balloon container or on an auxiliary bench.

Abstract: A double cylinder circular knitting machine for forming articles of terry fabric, comprises, in one of the cylinders (3), a ring of arcuate terry sinkers (24) each controlled by a butt (24A) so that it carries out a reciprocating angular sliding movement in an arcuate seat (22) in the end of the cylinder (3), and a loop withdrawal ring (26) for retaining the loop during the withdrawal of the end of the sinker (24) from the loop. The working end of the sinker (24) is rotated before its forward movement, so as to move it away from the loop withdrawal ring (26), and enables it to pass over the loop just formed on the previous course, the sinker (24) then being rotated in the reverse direction for forming the next loop. This arrangement permits loops to be formed in each course of the fabric.
