    Abstract: The present invention is a printing medium for use with an ink jet printer. The printing medium includes a substrate and a porous coating layer formed on the substrate using a phase inversion technique. The porous coating layer draws at least one component of an ink solution placed on the porous coating layer into the porous coating layer to dry the ink solution on the porous coating layer.
