Abstract: A system and method for predicting, forecasting and suggesting voyage plans for a vessel by considering design parameters, weather in sailing routes and a user's preference for best weather or best economy or fastest way to reach the destination. Voyage plans are optimized using the above parameters, and directions are continuously provided in the form of heading and speeds to be maintained by the vessel during the course of the voyage.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring one or more objects that have been restrainedly secured to a vehicle by one or more restraint members. The system includes a plurality of sensors each configured for monitoring one or more of a compressive or tensile stress or strain in one of the one or more restraint members, and a controller for periodically interrogating each of the plurality of sensors to ascertain a value of stress or strain detected by the respective sensor. When a change in the value of stress or strain is indicative of loosened or overtightened restraint members, a mitigation event is triggered.

Abstract: Improved systems and methods for operating moveable architectural elements (e.g., furniture) are described. The system can include improved features implemented throughout various elements, including hardware elements, controller elements, and/or software elements. As one example, the system can feature the ability to map a characteristic load profile across a particular length of actuation and, if during operation a measured load exceeds the profile, adjust (e.g., stop) the system's motion. The system can also advantageously map its current draw to increase energy efficiency. In addition, the system can include a positioning system that enables it to automatically determine its position upon start up and during operation. In some implementations, the system includes multiple moveable elements (e.g., furniture items). In some cases, power is distributed to the moveable element(s) using a moveable power distribution module. Many other improvements and features are contemplated and described.

In some embodiments, a method comprises acquiring an ultraweak photon emission image of a target area of a patient for detection of a pathological condition; wherein the target area comprises an area of interest and a portion surrounding the area of interest, wherein acquiring the image comprises: enhancing formation of reactive oxygen species and/or reactive nitrogen species in the target area, wherein enhancing formation of the reactive oxygen species and/or the reactive nitrogen species comprises applying low level light illumination to the target area from 1 second to 60 minutes so as to achieve a total power output from 1 mW to 10,000 W using an average power density from 0.1 W/cm2 to 1 W/cm2; and imaging the target area, wherein imaging the target area comprises a total exposure time from 1 second to 60 minutes.

The method also includes combining a ratio technique with a canonical model form technique. The also includes performing a series of mathematical calculations on the acquired set of electrical measurements to determine the set of indirect dynamic human metabolism parameters for the individual based on the combined ratio technique and the canonical model form technique.
