Patent number: 5538054Abstract: Rotary beverage receptacle-filling apparatus for transparent receptacles has a plurality of receptacle sites spaced apart at its periphery with filling components with electrically driven controls controlling the flow of beverage. Stationary video cameras next to the apparatus measure the filling level in the receptacles near a level limit and to produce closing signals to the flow controls of those receptacle sites at which a receptacle reaches a limit level leading to the desired nominal level, if necessary taking into account any post-flow. One video camera covering several receptacle sites is provided as the measuring device and is connected to an image analyzer driving all controls.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1994Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: APV Ortmann & Herbst GmbHInventors: Peter L uhmann, Carus von Karstedt, Norbert Basler, Wilfried Kolbe

Patent number: 5427161Abstract: Rotating beverage receptacle-filling equipment for filling receptacles has receptacle sites spaced along its periphery and metering containers which can be filled from a beverage tank. Beverage is discharged from the metering containers into the beverage receptacles. A control system recognizes upper and lower liquid levels in the metering containers to control the discharge volume. The metering containers are transparent and at least one stationary video camera observes the metering containers of several adjacent receptacle sites. An image analyzer continuously monitors the metering containers in the field of view of the camera while detecting the levels in different angular positions at the receptacle sites and generates control signals for valves at the receptacle sites. A camera observes the refill limit level to control a refill valve and a camera observes the discharge limit level to control a discharge valve.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1994Date of Patent: June 27, 1995Assignee: APV Ortmann+Herbst GmbHInventors: Peter Luhmann, Harald Schallnus

Patent number: 5092356Abstract: A nozzle system for spraying the interior surfaces of bottles, has a nozzle unit with a through-bore mounted on a spout in a fluid delivery pipe. The nozzle unit is rotated about an axis of rotation in synchronization with the bottle advance. The bore through the nozzle unit is oblique to a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1990Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Ortmann & Herbst GmbHInventor: Uwe Grot

Patent number: 4319613Abstract: The filling valve arrangement for carbonated beverages includes a head part and a lower part movable in two opposite vertical directions with respect to the head by means of a cylinder piston unit, the lower part enclosing a liquid controlling valve chamber with a valve member, the bottom of the lower part being provided with a liquid discharge passage supporting a sealing ring compressable by the cylinder piston unit against the rim of a container to be filled, and liquid inlet conduit arranged in lateral wall of the lower part to communicate with the liquid controlling valve chamber. An air return pipe is slidably supported by the filling valve the vertical position of which is controlled by a separate driving mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1980Date of Patent: March 16, 1982Assignee: Ortmann & Herbst GmbHInventor: Manfred Mette

Patent number: 4307762Abstract: An arrangement for filling containers with beverages has a housing with a wall bounding a closed air chamber, a filling pipe vertically displaceable in the housing so that the filling pipe can be lifted to thereby allow the exchange of containers, and a drive for vertically displacing the filling pipe and including a shaft which cooperates with an upper end portion of the filling pipe so as to vertically displace the latter, which drive is accommodated in the closed air chamber and its shaft extends through the wall of the air chamber. The filling pipe may be provided with inlet openings arranged below the air chamber in the region of a liquid inlet in the housing. A liquid valve may control the liquid inlet and be provided with a further drive operating independently of the drive of the filling pipe.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1979Date of Patent: December 29, 1981Assignee: Ortmann & Herbst GmbHInventor: Manfred Mette

Patent number: 4159726Abstract: A liquid level sensor for use with a container filling device, in particular jars, which includes a dispensing tube from which the liquid falls downward and outward in a paraboloid bell-shaped stream, and which has a return air pipe and a ball valve sensor to stop filling when liquid droplets coat said ball. The air pipe and sensor are both located in the space enclosed by the bell-shaped stream. A sealing device contacts the jar rim during filling.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1977Date of Patent: July 3, 1979Assignee: Ortmann & Herbst GmbHInventor: Manfred Mette
