Patents Assigned to Owens Corning Intellectual Captial, LLC
  • Patent number: 8490900
Abstract: An unbonded loosefill insulation system configured to provide blown loosefill insulation material is provided. The system includes a blowing insulation machine configured to condition and distribute loosefill insulation from a package of compressed loosefill insulation. The blowing insulation machine is further configured to have pre-set and fixed operating parameters. An unbonded loosefill insulation material is configured for use with the blowing insulation machine. The pre-set and fixed operating parameters of the blowing insulation machine are tuned to combine with the unbonded loosefill insulation materials to provide blown loosefill insulation material having specific insulative values.

  • Patent number: 8087265
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing high quality glass wool fibers, and more particularly to a spinner including a radiation shield is disclosed. The spinner includes a number of radiation shield positioned beneath the spinner base and decreases the temperature gradient along the peripheral sidewall of the spinner and improves the quality of the glass fibers. One suitable material for the radiation shield is a high temperature nickel alloy.

  • Patent number: 7712350
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the density of insulation in a cavity of a structure that senses a force of the insulation against the sensor. The force is used to determine the density of the insulation, which, in turn, is used to determine the thermal resistance or R-value of the insulation. The apparatus may include a fixture for supporting the sensor and holding the sensor in the substantially fixed position. A method for determining the density of loose-fill, blown-in-place insulation in a wall cavity by the use of a sensor is that measures a force exerted on the sensor by the insulation. The measured force is used to determine the density of the insulation. The thermal resistance of the insulation is determined from the known cavity depth and insulation density.

  • Patent number: 7475569
Abstract: A glass-melting furnace (10) has an upstream end (6), a downstream end (8), and a roof (22). The upstream end is positioned upstream of the downstream end. A charger (32) is provided to supply glass-forming material (30) to the upstream end of the furnace. At least one burner (34) is provided to supply heat to the glass-forming material at the upstream end of the furnace. An exhaust (60) is in communication with the downstream end of the furnace, with the exhaust being positioned downstream of the at least one burner.
