Patents Assigned to Oy Lars Lundin Patent Ab
  • Patent number: 4993871
Abstract: An oil catching boom which comprises, on the one hand, an upper part in the form of a floating, flexible hose and, on the other hand, a skirt (3) attached under it and extending into the water. With the purpose of providing a boom the flexibility of which is easy to adjust according to intended use, the upper part is made up, on the one hand, of an outer hose (1) of a fabric-like material, open at its ends, and, on the other hand, of an inflatable inner hose (8) placed inside it. The flexibility of the inner hose or its division into segments is achieved by means of hose strictures which are produced, for example, by means of band-like throttling rings (11) fitted at predetermined intervals around the hose. A longer unit assembled from boom parts can be equipped with an inflation hose extending over its hole length.

  • Patent number: 4834880
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for picking up oil from water and from the surface of water, the device being installed to a water craft and comprising at least one collecting means passing around rolls and being installed obliquely, there being at the upper end of the collecting means devices for removing the oil collected by the collecting means and for directing it into a tank in the water craft. The object is especially to eliminate the disadvantages of previously known devices of the mat type that, when the craft moves, the mat tends to direct water and, along with it, also oil to the sides, past the mat. In accordance with the invention the device comprises a number of parallel loop-like collecting means, each of which is made up of pieces provided with upwards and sidewards extending bristles and fixed to the chain, the sidewards-directed bristles extending sufficiently far to come into contact with each other, but allowing water to flow without hindrance through the device.

  • Patent number: 4831955
Abstract: An arrangement in a water craft is described for collecting oil present on the surface of water, especially among blocks of ice. The arrangement comprises a bow part (2) the flat lower surface (3) of which is gently sloping and equipped with inlet openings for contaminated water. When the craft is moving forwards, blocks of ice are pressed under the surface (3) and at the same time rinsed. The rinsing can be promoted by means of strong water jets. In order to achieve the optimal operating conditions in each particular case, the bow part (2) has been arranged to be a part separate from the hull (1) of the craft and capable of being raised and lowered in relation to the hull, which also enables this bow part to be coupled to an already existing craft of suitable size. The bow part comprises separating devices (9) for separating oil from the inflowing water, as well as a device for removing the cleaned water.

  • Patent number: 4793767
Abstract: A device for pumping highly-viscous material, particularly thick oil, the device being adapted to immersion in the material and comprising a helical screw (8) and surrounding the screw a shell (9). In order to ensure the feed of the material the screw and the shell are arranged to rotate in opposite directions and to the shell are fixed outwardly-directed feeding vanes (15) and at the root of the feeding vanes on the material collection side are apertures for the delivery of the material to screw (8) rotating within the shell. The speeds of rotation of the screw and the shell can be separately adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4760619
Abstract: The invention relates to a cleaning-device combination for cleaning shore water (W) and shore area (S) contaminated by oil (O). The combination comprises at least one brush (1) having an arm and a collecting container (6) having as part of the container or separately a scraper or suchlike for removing the oil adhering to the brush and for directing the oil into the container. The object is to create a combination which as much as possible facilitates and rationalizes this sort of manual cleaning work. The brush of the combination comprises a substantially cylindrical bristled part (2) and an arm (3) centrally secured to it.

  • Patent number: 4747361
Abstract: An arrangement on a water craft for collecting oil that is present on the surface of the water, particularly among ice blocks. The underside (1A) of the craft's bow (1) has been made substantially planar and very gently inclined, for instance about 10.degree.-20.degree., so that when the craft is travelling forward the ice blocks (2) might be forced along the underside (1A) under the water and be simultaneously flushed in the water. Moreover, in said underside (1A) have been made water inlet openings, which are elongated, parallel slits (3) and which prevent the entry of ice blocks. Inside the craft, the oil (5) is separated from the water (4) by means of a separating member (6), whereafter the water (7) is pumped out again. To intensify the flushing of the ice blocks (2), the pumped-out water is jetted against the ice blocks in the region of the inlet openings (3). The bottom of the bow (1) may be slightly deeper on the sides than its planar centerpart.

  • Patent number: 4690093
Abstract: An oil-spill-combatting water craft for recovering oil which is present on the surface of water. The water craft has at the water level at least one water inlet and, secured just behind this inlet, a collecting boom (2) which extends forwards and outwards, directing water to inside the craft, where there is a separating device (5) for the recovery of the oil from the water. In the water craft of this type the difficulty so far has been that, when the craft travels at a somewhat higher speed, water pressure in front of the boom tends to rise so high that some of the oil-contaminated water (3) "escapes" under the boom (2). According to the invention, this is prevented by arranging, for at least part of the water from which the oil has been separated and which discharges from the craft, an outlet just behind the collecting boom (2). For the rest of the discharging water there is preferably arranged an outlet which is located further towards the bow than is the inlet.

  • Patent number: 4673497
Abstract: An oil-spill-combatting water craft is provided with at least one protruding boom but most suitably one on each side of the craft, the booms directing surface water and oil present in it into a conduit inside the craft, the inlet and the outlet of the conduit being located in the side of the craft. The purpose is to provide a simple, high-capacity arrangement in which the flow is, nevertheless, relatively calm also when the sea is rough. With this in mind, the conduit has been implemented as a circulation conduit the outlet of which is situated towards the bow from the inlet and in which the water flows automatically owing to the water-raising and water-guiding effect of the boom. The separating means for water and oil, fitted inside the conduit, is a rotating arrangement which allows water to flow through and is, for example, made up of rows of bristles. In front of the outlet of the conduit there is fitted a baffle which extends obliquely outwards and backwards.
