  • Patent number: 5050283
Abstract: An arrangement for handling a drilling equipment comprising clamping jaws (11a, 11b) mounted rotatably with respect to the axis of a drill tube (8a, 8b) and a breaking device (7) mounted rotatably about the axis of the drill tube (8a, 8b) and movably in the longitudinal direction of a feed beam (3), which breaking device can be connected to the drill tube (8a, 8b) or the like unrotatably with respect thereto. To move the drill tube (8a, 8b) or the like to the drilling position and away from it, respectively, the breaking device (7) is mounted turnably about an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the feed beam (3), which makes it possible to push the horizontal tube (8b) or the like into the breaking device (7) turned to the direction transverse to the feed beam (3) and to fasten it to the breaking device, after which the tube (8b) can be turned into a drilling center between a rotating mechanism (5) and the previous drill tube (8a) by moving the breaking device (7) along the feed beam (3).

  • Patent number: 5034205
Abstract: A method of removing sulphur oxides from flue gases, in which method lime such as calcium carbonate is fed into a separate reactor space positioned in a boiler. In the reactor space the lime is converted into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide under the influence of the temperature prevailing in the furnace of the boiler. Pressurized air causes the calcinating lime and the obtained calcium oxide to flow through the tubular space, whereby at the other end of the space substantially all lime has been converted into oxide and is fed therefrom into the boiler among its flow of flue gases for the actual desulphuration reaction.

  • Patent number: 5007354
Abstract: In a combustion air supply system, particularly a secondary air supply system for a recovery furnace, the secondary air inlet ports are divided into two arrays in such a manner that the combustion air coming in through the inlet ports of the first array is directed in part to contact and in part to by-pass a central region in the outer surface of a carbonization layer. The combustion air coming in through the inlet ports of the second array is directed to by-pass the combustion air coming in through the inlet ports of the first array thereabove. The first and second arrays are located on the opposite walls of the combustion chamber, preferably on the front and rear walls. The recovery furnace further comprises a primary air supply zone for blowing combustion air onto the sides of the carbonization layer and a tertiary air supply zone above a waste liquor inlet.

  • Patent number: 5002743
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the removal of sulfur dioxide from hot flue gases (8) which have been obtained by burning a sulfur-containing substance (4) in a boiler (1). In the process, a substance (6), such as lime or limestone, which reacts with sulfur dioxide to form a solid product is fed into the boiler or into the reaction zone (2) subsequent to the boiler, the hot flue gases (8) are cooled in the reaction zone (2) by feeding into it at maximum such an amount of water as the hot flue gases are capable of evaporating, and the substantially dry solid products are separated (3) in the form of dust (10) from the cooled flue gases. According to the invention, the flue gases (11) thus obtained are scrubbed (13) with an alkaline aqueous solution (15) in order to remove the remaining sulfor dioxide and dust from the flue gases, and part (9') of the cycled scrubbing solution (9) is fed into the boiler (1) or the reaction zone (2) in order to evaporate the water from this solution.

  • Patent number: 4971158
Abstract: In a rotary drilling apparatus, a rotary head is advanced against an object to be drilled and a neck element included in the rotary head and connected with drilling member is rotated around its longitudinal axis relative to a rotary head body. The neck element is subjected, in a normal drilling situation to the action of two oppositely-directed forces produced by means of a pressure medium, the first force acting in the drilling direction and the second force acting in the direction opposite to the drilling direction, the first force being greater and the difference between the forces producing a feeding force. The neck element is movable in the direction of the feeding force. In a drilling situation, when the force acting in the direction opposite to the feeding force is greater than the feeding force, the neck element moves in the direction opposite to the drilling direction relative to the rotary head body.

  • Patent number: 4968218
Abstract: A method of controlling the air output of a screw compressor, wherein the average air output of the compressor during operation is adapted to air consumption by throttling the flow of suction air or by connecting the compressor alternately to full air output capacity and idle operation capacity. In order to reduce the power consumption of the compressor, the air output is controlled first by throttling the flow of suction air and by simultaneously measuring underpressure in the suction conduit of the compressor. Thereafter the compressor is controlled so as to operate alternately at full air output capacity and idle operation capacity, and the pressure rise rate in the air-pressure network is measured when the compressor operates at full output capacity and the pressure fall rate is measured when the compressor operates at idle operation capacity.

  • Patent number: 4964956
Abstract: A method of and an arrangement for leading a web on to a desired wire in a paper machine or the like. When the web moves between two wires, it is transferred on to one wire after the wires have moved in parallel over a distance with the web therebetween making contact with both wires. The transfer takes place when the wires start to move in different directions by sucking the web on to one of the wires by a vacuum acting through said wire. For improving the detachment of the web from the other wire, the direction of travel of the wire is changed abruptly at the parting point of the wires by leading it along a suction box comprising a cover piece formed by cleats and arranged to form an angle in such a way that the point of the angle projects towards the wire. When the wire moves along the cleats of the cover piece of the suction box, its direction of travel is abruptly changed at the point line of the angle, whereby the web is detached from the other wire completely in a moment.
