  • Patent number: 5692250
Abstract: A vacuum toilet system comprises a toilet bowl having an outlet opening, a sewer pipe having an interior space, a discharge valve connecting the outlet opening of the toilet bowl to the sewer pipe, and a source of partial vacuum for establishing a lower pressure in the interior space of the sewer pipe than in the toilet bowl. A nozzle defines a rinse liquid outlet for introducing liquid into the toilet bowl. A container for reagent is in communication with the rinse liquid outlet. Reagent is introduced into the toilet bowl by way of the rinse liquid outlet in timed relationship to introduction of rinse liquid into the toilet bowl.

  • Patent number: 5454936
Abstract: A vacuum toilet system comprises a toilet bowl having a cover mounted for movement relative to the toilet bowl between an open position and a closed position, the cover being in at least partially sealing relation with the rim when in the closed position. A liquid supply opening is provided for introducing liquid into the toilet bowl when the cover is in the closed position. A discharge valve connects the outlet opening of the toilet bowl to a sewer pipe, in which a partial vacuum can be established. A reservoir has an inlet opening for receiving rinse liquid and an outlet opening in communication with the liquid supply opening. The inlet opening of the reservoir is exposed to substantially the same pressure as the liquid supply opening when the toilet bowl cover is in the open position and the discharge valve is closed. Rinse liquid is drawn from the reservoir into the toilet bowl by way of the liquid supply opening when the discharge valve is open and the cover is in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5165457
Abstract: A vacuum sewer arrangement comprises a valve controlled air inlet duct to let air into the vacuum sewer at a position downstream of the sewer valve. The sewer valve can then be closed immediately after the sewage has passed into the vacuum sewer, because the air required for the sewage transport is received from the air inlet duct. Hence, the amount of air that flows into the sewer through the sewer valve when the sewer valve opens is small, and when the sewer valve is closed, air flows through the air inlet duct into the sewer, which reduces the pressure difference acting on the sewer valve. These measures tend to considerably reduce the noise level. In the case of a vacuum toilet sewer arrangement, the noise level can be further reduced by providing the toilet bowl with a lid forming a substantially airtight and soundproof closure at the top of the bowl.

  • Patent number: 5007117
Abstract: A vacuum toilet system comprises a waste-receiving bowl defining an interior space for receiving waste material. A sewer pipe defines an interior space that can be placed at a pressure that is lower than that in the interior space of the waste-receiving bowl, and a discharge valve is connected between the outlet of the waste-receiving bowl and the sewer pipe for controlling passage of material between the waste-receiving bowl and the sewer pipe. A rinse liquid valve controls supply of rinse liquid to the waste-receiving bowl. A controller is responsive to a user stimulus to open and close the discharge valve in accordance with a predetermined cycle, and to open the rinse liquid valve during at least the interval during which the discharge valve is being opened.

  • Patent number: 5002592
Abstract: A waste tank for a vacuum sewage system installed in a transport vehicle comprises a receptacle portion for receiving sewage up to a predetermined maximum filling level. The tank defines an inlet opening for admitting air and sewage to the tank and an outlet opening for exhausting air from the tank. The inlet and outlet openings are above the maximum filling level of the tank. The tank also comprises an inlet separator that separates air and sewage entering the tank by way of the inlet opening using the kinetic energy of the sewage, and thereby dissipates kinetic energy of the sewage so that sewage entering the receptacle portion of the tank does not do so in a violent fashion, such as to contribute to vigorous movement of the sewage or cause splashing.

  • Patent number: 4973894
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, and to an arrangement, for optimizing the operation of a door closer at different phases of opening and closing of the door. The door closer is provided with a force transmission shaft (1) turning in accordance with the movements of the door and with a spring element (2) operationally connected thereto. The opening of the door takes place against the force of the spring element (2). According to the invention, at the closing phase of the door the energy of the spring element (2), exceeding the return force of the spring element (2) needed to accomplish the desired closing movement of the door, is recovered through simultaneous braking of the closing movement of the door for the main part of the closing movement. When the door is only somewhat open any more, preferably under 5.degree., a final force securing the closing of the door is accomplished by making use of said recovered energy.

  • Patent number: 4811754
Abstract: A fluid-flow control valve comprises a valve housing bounding a chamber and defining an inlet port for entry of fluid into the chamber and a control port for egress of fluid from the chamber. The control port is of reduced cross-sectional area relative to the chamber. The valve also comprises a valve closure member disposed in the chamber. The valve closure member is less dense than the fluid that the valve is to be used to control, so that when the chamber contains that fluid and the control port is above the closure member, the valve closure member is urged toward the control port so as to obstruct the control port. The closure member can be displaced away from the control port so as to allow fluid to flow through the control port.

  • Patent number: 4791879
Abstract: A coater for coating a running paper or cardboard web comprises a coating chamber having one side open against the web and means for filling the coating chamber with pressurized coating substance. The coating chamber is limited in the longitudinal direction of the web by a web entrance wall, and opposite thereof, a back wall in the form of a doctor member for forming a coating layer on the web. The distance between the walls is so short that, at normal web running speed, the web moves from the web entrance wall to the back wall in a time of at the most 0.3 s, preferably at the most 0.03 s. Coating substance is supplied by means of positive pressure to the coating chamber at a position close to the web entrance wall.

  • Patent number: 4791949
Abstract: It is essential for optimum operation of a vacuum sewage line to cause an injection of air to follow behind a preceding operation of removal of sewage by suction. The invention solves the problem of dividing large quantities of sewage that are produced into portions and of conveying them through the vacuum sewage pipe by the triggering of a secondary air valve for the supply of air necessary after each suction operation.
