Patents Assigned to Pacific Coast Feather Company
  • Patent number: 7356864
Abstract: The featherbed includes upper and lower fabric layers, with the upper layer being longer than the lower layer. Lines of stitching connect the upper layer to the lower layer at spaced lateral lines along the length of the featherbed, thereby defining successive abutting lateral half-tubules, which are filled such that the upper layer extends away from the lower layer in a curved configuration, defining a plurality of half-tubules, generally in the shape of half-ellipses, with the fill density being greater, approximately 21% than that of a similar-sized conventional featherbed.

  • Patent number: 7346947
Abstract: The pillow comprises four substantially identical fabric sections arranged in registry and secured together around the peripheries thereof. A line of stitching connects the middle two layers, defining a circular area in the center of the pillow. The pillow is filled between the middle two layers from the line of stitching to the peripheral edges of the fabric sections. Filling is also present between the upper fabric section and one of the middle fabric sections, and between the lower fabric layers and the other middle fabric section, resulting in a pillow which has less filling in the center thereof.

  • Patent number: 7222379
Abstract: The pillow kit cover member, which includes substantially identical top and bottom portions, each of which includes inner and outer layers. The top and bottom portions are secured around the peripheries thereof, except for one side, which includes a zipper or similar element for opening and closing the pillow. The pillow includes an interior chamber assembly, which comprises baffle members which extend between the inner layers of the top and bottom portions, defining individual chambers which extend the length of the pillow. Filling is provided within the pillow chamber, as well as a plurality of inserts, having various fillings, which are selectively insertable into and removable from the pillow chambers. Different combinations of inserts vary the support characteristics of the pillow.

  • Patent number: 7210178
Abstract: The pillow includes a pillow body with an upper curved member which includes a first convex curved portion which extends along the length of the upper surface of the pillow near the back edge of the pillow and a second convex curved portion which parallels the first curved portion and extends along the upper surface of the pillow near the front edge of the pillow. A concave curved portion extends between and joins the first and second convex curved portions. The height of the first convex curved portion is greater than the height of the second convex curved portion. A plurality of interior baffle walls extend lengthwise of the pillow, spaced and located so as to maintain the contour of the pillow when the pillow is filled with natural and/or synthetic filling.

  • Patent number: 7080421
Abstract: The bedding article includes three fabric sections having approximately the same size and positioned in registry. Two fabric baffle strips extend in one dimension between and connected to upper and middle fabric sections, defining three interior chambers therebetween. Two fabric baffle strips extend in a dimension perpendicular to the dimension between and connected to the lower and middle fabric sections, also defining three chambers therebetween. Loose filling is placed into all of the chambers defined by the baffle strips.

  • Patent number: 6961970
Abstract: The bedding article comprises a plurality of channels which extend longitudinally or laterally of the featherbed and into which fill can be blown. Each channel is divided into two longitudinal portions, accomplished by a line of lateral stitching across the channel. The two portions have different lengths, with the two lengths alternating from end to end for adjacent channels.

  • Patent number: 6931682
Abstract: The pillow comprises four substantially identical fabric sections arranged in registry and secured together around the peripheries thereof. A line of stitching connects the middle two layers, defining a rectangular portion or other configuration, in the center of the pillow. The pillow is filled between the middle two layers from the line of stitching to the peripheral edges of the fabric sections. Filling is also present between the upper fabric section and one of the middle fabric sections, and between the lower fabric layers and the other middle fabric section, resulting in a pillow which has less fill in the center portion thereof.

  • Patent number: 6910237
Abstract: A pillow cover and pouch combination where the cover is adapted to receive a pillow therein, the cover having first and second identical sections, each section including outer and inner fabric portions with a layer of down filling therebetween. The first and second sections are secured together by a line of stitching around three sides, the other side being open to receive a conventional pillow, closeable by a closure element. The pouch member is configured such that the cover may be folded and positioned inside to produce a pillow-like member.

  • Patent number: 6301730
Abstract: The high loft comforter includes a lower tick portion and an upper tick portion of material, the upper tick portion comprising a plurality of squares arranged and sewn together and then to the lower tick portion, forming rows and columns thereof. Each square has a pleat at each corner thereof, so that when the squares are sewn together and to the lower tick portion, rows and columns of box-like volumes are defined, with approximately straight side portions. Each box volume contains a selected volume of fill, thus providing a high loft, puffy arrangement for the comforter.

  • Patent number: 6009579
Abstract: The combination includes a featherbed and a relatively thin, down-filled top member which has a peripheral outline substantially identical to that of the featherbed. The top member is positioned on the upper surface of the featherbed. Attachment elements such as straps, ties and/or buttons or even a cover member are used to removably secure the top member in place on the upper surface of the featherbed and to prevent the top member from shifting position on the featherbed during use thereof.

  • Patent number: 5678262
Abstract: The article includes first and second fabric sections which are sewn together around their peripheries, with sections of cording in between. Four successive separate sections of cording extend cumulatively around the periphery of the tick, between the two fabric sections, extending somewhat outward from the periphery of the tick. The cording is covered with a bias tape material which is sewn between the first and second fabric sections, providing a stable physical relationship between the first and second fabric sections and the covered cording.

  • Patent number: 5557816
Abstract: A down comforter includes a center region (22) and a border region (24) which extends around the comforter and defines the peripheral edge of the comforter. Typically, the center region (24) is approximately 53 to 62 percent of the total area of the comforter. The border region (24) is continuous and has the same width around the periphery of the comforter. A pillow includes upper and lower casing members (40, 42) between which are located upper and lower baffle members (44, 46). The baffle members 44, 46 are stitched together along two longitudinal lines of stitching (48, 50). The casing members (40, 42) and the baffle members (44, 46), all in registry, are stitched together along their respective longitudinal and end edges. The pillow is filled between the upper baffle member and the upper casing member and between the lower baffle member and the lower casing member, as well as between the two baffle members between the two lines of stitching.
