  • Patent number: 11022425
Abstract: The present disclosure extends to methods, systems, apparatus, and computer program products related to a cable-based measuring system. The cable-based measuring system includes a cable, comprising an inner cable member configured to move linearly within an outer cable housing. The measuring system also includes a measuring device configured to generate measurement information regarding movement of the inner cable member relative to the outer cable housing using one or more encoders. A computer system receives the measurement information from the measuring device. The measurement information indicates length as a function of time, and represents three orthogonal dimensional measurements of a three-dimensional object. Based on the measurement information, the computer system identifies a length of each dimensional measurement, including a length, a width, and a height of the three-dimensional object.

  • Patent number: 10954096
Abstract: Systems and methods for folding and stacking fanfold corrugated board material. A system may include a rotatable member (e.g., a wheel) having a number of head pieces disposed thereon. Each head piece has a vacuum setting that can be used to pick up a portion of a length of fanfold and hold it while the rotatable member rotates around its axis and a second blower setting that blows the portion of the length of fanfold that was picked up and rotated around the rotatable member down onto a stack of fanfold. Such a system is capable of forming regular and consistent stacks of fanfold material efficiently and cost effectively without the need for significant human intervention.

  • Patent number: 10850469
Abstract: A box forming machine includes a converter assembly, a fold assembly, and an attachment assembly. The converter assembly converts sheet material into a box template. The fold assembly engages a first end of the box template and moves the first end of the box template to a predetermined position. The attachment assembly engages a second end of the box template and moves the second end of the box template toward and into engagement with the first end of the box template to attach the first and second ends of the box template together.

  • Patent number: 10836516
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for converting a sheet material into packaging templates can include a converting machine that performs conversion functions, such as cutting, creasing, and scoring, on the sheet material. Items to be packed into boxes formed of the packaging templates can be used as the pattern for determining the location of performance of the conversion functions on the sheet material. Accordingly, no intermediate measuring of the items may be required prior to performance of the conversion functions. Instead, longheads can be positioned adjacent to opposing sides of the items and cross heads can be advanced inward to the positioned longheads.

  • Patent number: 10766651
Abstract: Treating packaging as a pick item. Embodiments include methods, systems, and computer program products for determining a container size of a container for packaging one or more items. An identity of one or more items that are to be packaged into a container is received. Corresponding three-dimensional dimensions of each of the one or more items are identified. A container size of the container is calculated based on the corresponding three-dimensional dimensions of each of the one or more items. The calculated container size is configured to accommodate all of the one or more items within the container. The container is produced, the container having at least the calculated size. In some embodiments, the container can then be sent to a pack station as a pick item.

  • Patent number: 10730680
Abstract: Foldable templates include sheet material with a front surface and a retaining element connected to the sheet material extending over at least a portion of the front surface. In box insert configurations, the sheet material has transverse and longitudinal creases, the retaining element extending across the creases. In retaining box configurations, the sheet material includes a base panel and opposing longitudinal side walls, with transverse creases extending across the base panel and side walls. In each template, folding the sheet material upward along transverse creases opens a receiving area between the front surface and retaining element to receive a product. In the box insert configuration, folding the sheet material downward underneath the front surface along transverse creases pulls the retaining element tight over the product. In the retaining box configuration, folding the side walls upward flattens the transverse creases and pulls the retaining element tight over the product.

  • Patent number: 10696489
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to conveyor systems and methods for controlling induction of items within the conveyor systems. In one scenario, a conveyor control system implements a hardware sensor in a conveyor system to generate sensor readings regarding an operational status of a first zone in an operational environment, where the first zone is an area where orders are fulfilled. The conveyor control system receives sensor data from the hardware sensor of the conveyor system. The sensor data includes feedback information for controlling the conveyor system. The conveyor control system then evaluates the received sensor data to determine which conveyable items are currently in the first zone and, based on the evaluation, induces the conveyable items onto the conveyor for the first zone.

  • Patent number: 10521741
Abstract: Embodiments described herein generally relate to dynamically assigning product groups to production machines using production groups and producing product groups at a specified ratio using production groups. In one scenario, a computer system dynamically assigns a production entity to a product group based on properties for that production entity. The production entity is to be produced using a production machine. The computer system then dynamically assigns each product group to a production group, where each production group includes production machines that are available to produce production entities for product groups that belong to the assigned production group. The computer system also indicates that a production entity is to be produced using the production machines in the dynamically assigned production group.

  • Patent number: 10491687
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to scaling services, transitioning from a first service version to a second version and to implementing an external system integration service. In one scenario, a computer system establishes a message broker service that maintains message queues that allow communication between services. The message queues receive messages from publishers and transfer messages to subscribers. The computer system indicates a specified message queue for each service, where the specified message queue is configured to maintain messages for that service. The computer system also moves at least one of the services to a second, different computer system, while the specified message queue maintains messages for the moved service. The computer system further allows an external system integration service to be implemented which subscribes to specified, registered messages and forwards the registered messages to selected external entities.

  • Patent number: 10402890
Abstract: Implementations of the present invention relate to systems and methods for receiving an order that has been gathered and is ready for packaging. After the order is received, a tracking code can be scanned. The tracking code may be associated with packaging information relating to the order's packaging attributes. A request can then be send to a packaging system to generate a packaging template. The packaging system can then generate the requested packaging template.

  • Patent number: 10071472
Abstract: A system that converts fanfold material into packaging templates includes a converting machine and an outfeed table. The converting machine has a converting assembly that performs conversion functions, such as cutting, creasing, and scoring, on fanfold material as the fanfold material moves through the converting machine. The outfeed table guides the packaging templates out of the converting machine in a first direction.
