Patent number: 11066638Abstract: The present invention relates to bacterial ghosts, and more particularly, to a method of preparing bacterial ghosts from gram-positive bacteria by hydrochloric acid treatment. Specifically, according to the present invention, when gram-positive bacteria were cultured after being treated with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of hydrochloric acid capable of inhibiting colony formation of gram-positive bacteria, bacterial ghosts were effectively formed. Since the formed bacterial ghosts have no intracellular proteins or DNA while preserving cell wall integrity, the risk of side effects such as secondary infection caused by bacterial growth when the bacterial ghosts are administered to humans is low. Therefore, the bacterial ghosts prepared from gram-positive bacteria according to the method of the present invention may be effectively used as a vaccine or a foreign antigen carrier for preventing or treating gram-positive bacterial infection.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2016Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: PAICHAI UNIVERSITY INDUSTRY-ACADEMIC COOPERATION FOUNDATIONInventors: Chang Won Choi, Seong Mi Ji, Hyun Jung Park, Sung Oh, Nagarajan Vinod, Han Byul No

Patent number: 9382587Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a diagnostic marker for breast cancer, having thioredoxin-1 as an active ingredient, and to a diagnostic kit for breast cancer using the same. The thioredoxin-1 is overexpressed in human breast cancer tissue so as to enable the early diagnosis of breast cancer or the early prediction prognosis of breast cancer, and therefore has a valuable use as a diagnostic marker for breast cancer. The present disclosure further relates to a method for the diagnosis of breast cancer comprising measuring serum thioredoxin 1 level. In addition, the method is useful in the early diagnosis of breast cancer thanks to its high diagnostic sensitivity and selectivity.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2012Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: PAICHAI UNIVERSITY INDUSTRY-ACADEMIC COOPERATION FOUNDATIONInventor: Il Han Kim

Publication number: 20130157292Abstract: Disclosed are a composition for the diagnosis of ovarian cancer and/or pneumonia, comprising thioredoxin 1 as an active ingredient, and the use thereof. Also, a diagnostic kit for ovarian and/or pneumonia and a diagnosis method are provided. Because blood, which is relatively easy to be sampled, is employed as a specimen, the diagnostic method is very simple and does not impose a load on patients compared to conventional methods that are directed to a biopsy. In addition, the method is useful in the early diagnosis of ovarian cancer thanks to the high diagnostic sensitivity and selectivity thereof. Thioredoxin 1 can be used as a diagnostic marker for pneumonia, which is characterized by a decreased serum level, with high selectivity for pneumonia, thereby readily discriminating pneumonia from cancer as well as diseases other than cancer.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: PAICHAI UNIVERSITY INDUSTRY-ACADEMIC COOPERATION FOUNDATIONInventor: Il Han Kim

Publication number: 20090147955Abstract: A cryptography method using a quantum phenomenon, which performs a multi-staged polarization process between a transmitter and a receiver to prevent a third party from knowing the polarization value of a photon. A transmitter rotates a photon flux by arbitrary angle ? and transmits it to a receiver. The receiver rotates the received photon flux by arbitrary angle ? and transmits it to the transmitter. The transmitter rotates the received photon flux by the reverse angle ?? of an angle, by which the transmitter 10 rotated it, then rotates it by polarization corresponding to an information bit, and transmits it to the receiver which rotates the received photon flux by the reverse angle ?? of an angle, and measures the polarization of the photon flux corresponding to the information bit, and recovers the information bit transmitted by the transmitter. Cryptography information may be transmitted using a plurality of photon fluxes.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2006Publication date: June 11, 2009Applicant: Paichai University Industry-Academic Cooperation FoundationInventors: Chil-Min Kim, Won-Ho Kye, Young-Jai Park

Patent number: 7319710Abstract: The present invention relates to a microdisk laser with a unidirectional generation property, and more particularly, to a microdisk laser designed in the form of a triangle, wherein the incident angles of portions of a laser beam at two upper sides of the triangle are greater than a critical angle to cause total reflection, so that the laser beam generates with directionality toward the base of the triangle. To this end, in the microdisk laser with the unidirectional generation property, the laser takes the shape of a triangle with two upper sides and the base and the two upper sides have their lengths greater than or equal to that of the base. Respective vertexes of the triangle or some of the vertexes are curved, and incident angles of portions of a laser beam at the two upper sides of the triangle are greater than a critical angle to cause total reflection, so that the laser beam generates with directionality toward the base of the triangle.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2005Date of Patent: January 15, 2008Assignee: Paichai University Industry-Academic Cooperation FoundationInventors: Chil Min Kim, Mikhael Kourdoglian, Soo Young Lee
