  • Patent number: 6119734
Abstract: A cable binding tool for binding a belt around an object employs a novel arrangement of support rollers on an adjustably spring loaded abutment to urge the belt against a toothed tightening wheel. The tightening wheel is continuously driven during the tightening operation, continuing to rotate with respect to the belt even after the desired belt tension has been achieved. The arrangement of support rollers takes advantage of the stiffness of the belt to equalize the force acting per unit length between the belt and the tightening roller over that portion of the circumference of the tightening roller in contact with the belt.

  • Patent number: 5845681
Abstract: An arrangement for tying an article, in particular a cable harness, comprises a tough elastic tape with a closure (12) arranged at the end of an elongated tape tongue and a tying tool. Arranged at the front of the tool body (1) are wrapping tongs (2, 3) that can be opened and closed and through which the tape can be guided around the article to be tied. Located in the tool body is a tape guide channel (10) opening inside the wrapping tongs and having an advancing member for advancing the tape with the tape tongue forward, the channel being adjoined in the wrapping tongs by a tape guide groove (20, 21). Arranged at the mouth of the tape guide channel (10) is a closure holder for holding the closure (12) and a spring rocker (15) for pressing the tape tongue being advanced on to a surface (11) of the tape guide channel (10). According to the invention, the spring rocker (15) has a front face (24) that participates in forming the closure holder (11, 18, 24).

  • Patent number: 5630450
Abstract: A tool for tensioning a band and for actuating a band fastening and/or for cutting off the band at the end of the tensioning operation has a pressure-medium operated tensioning drive, a pressure-medium operated actuating drive and a valve arrangement which, when a predetermined pressure is attained at the tensioning drive, liberates the supply of pressure medium to the actuating drive. An accurately reproducible band tension is achieved by virtue of the fact that the valve arrangement comprises a reducing valve, which is connected to the tensioning drive by a pressure-medium supply line and can be set to the reducing pressure corresponding to the desired band tension. The pressure-medium supply line contains a restrictor.

  • Patent number: 5430996
Abstract: An arrangement for ordering and binding an elongated object, in particular a cable tree (4), comprises an ordering device (1) for example a laying board with supports for a cable tree, which determines the position of the object. It also comprises a binding device which binds the object with a tape (16). To this end, the binding device has a wrapping guide (2, 3) which wraps the tape around the object (4) and a sealing device (5) with a device (17) for joining the ends of the tape. The sealing device (5) can be moved relative to the ordering device (1) so that it can be placed at the various binding sites (18) in the object (4). According to the invention, at least part of the wrapping guide (2, 3, 20, 30) is arranged on the ordering device (1), i.e., at each of the binding sites (18). The sealing device (5) is therefore not attached to the binding device until it is placed on one of the wrapping guides (2, 3, 20, 30).

  • Patent number: 5368278
Abstract: An appliance for clamping a strap round an article has a tensioning member, it being necessary for the tension which is to be transmitted to the strap by the tensioning member to be limited to a predetermined value. This is achieved by the fact that the tensioning member (4) is designed to slip past on the strap (2,6) to be tensioned when the predetermined strap tension is reached. The tensioning member can be provided with projections penetrating into the strap surface, which projections are designed so as to remove chips or displace material during the slipping past. Advantageously the tensioning member comprises a tensioning roller.

  • Patent number: 5088395
Abstract: Tool for tensioning and cutting off a tape loop (2) placed about an object (17), the ends (3A, 3B) of the tape loop being led through a lock (7) which serves for their connection. One end (3B) of the loop is initially connected to a tape supply. The tool forms a support (5) for the lock (7), an opening (1) in the lock support for the passage of the tape ends (3A, 3B), a tensioning device for the tape end connected to the tape supply, a support for the free tape end and a cutting device (13). The invention achieves a simplification of the construction of the tool and a processing of the tape with no waste by the support device comprising a clamp (11) pressing the free tape end (3A) on one side against the other tape end (3B) supported by an abutment (4) and the cutting device (13) being arranged on the side of the clamp (11) facing away from the lock support (5).
