  • Patent number: 7368029
Abstract: There is disclosed thermal transfer media containing both fixed and variable printed information, and method of making and using such a thermal transfer medium. The fixed information is printed in one or more fixed-information zone(s) preferably on a web during a long production run and thereafter as the need arises the variable information is printed or imprinted in one or more variable information zone(s) on sections of the web during shorter production runs. The transfer medium is particularly suited for printing onto fabrics that are subject to repeated home laundering and commercial dry cleaning.

  • Publication number: 20070090800
Abstract: Power control systems and methods are provided to control when and how power is removed from devices. A power control system includes a sensing module that detects an output voltage level of a battery pack. A shutoff module initiates a shutoff routine when the output voltage level decreases to a device shutoff voltage level. The device shutoff voltage level is greater than the battery pack shutoff voltage level. A bypass module prevents the initiation of the shutoff routine when the device performs one or more operations that are known to cause high battery current spikes that will resultant in significant voltage drops from the battery pack.

  • Patent number: 7186043
Abstract: There is disclosed a printer with an arrangement for assuring that a linerless tacky adhesive-backed web is reliably fed. The printer has stripper elements which terminate at tip portions which extend into the platen roll to initially cut grooves in the platen roll, and because the tip portions extend below the outer periphery of the platen roll into these grooves, the stripper elements continue to strip the web reliably from the platen roll during subsequent printing cycles.

  • Patent number: 7170538
Abstract: There is disclosed a method using thermal and inkjet printing and a combination thermal and inkjet printer includes a thermal print head, an inkjet print head and at least one motor for driving a web of record members, such as labels past the thermal print head and the inkjet print head. A controller controls the thermal print head and the inkjet print head while the inkjet print head remains stationary to print on a record member as the record member moves continuously past each of the print heads at the same speed to provide a simple, fast and inexpensive and less complex combination thermal and inkjet printer than prior combination printers. The thermal print head is used to print data and the ink jet print head is used to print marks of any of various contrasting colors.

  • Patent number: 7126935
Abstract: A pair of compact, energy-efficient, intelligent, wireless transceiver units are designed to replace the cable that interconnects a portable bar-code scanner, keyboard, and display or other host to a portable bar-code printer or the like. When reset, the units exchange linkage packets and thereby exchange addresses. Thereafter, the two units communicate in an error-free fashion with each other, even in the presence of noise and interference, by exchanging addressed packets containing error detection information. Alternate transmission frequencies are selected when transmissions cannot be received at one frequency. The host unit may maintain independent linkages with multiple printers or the like, with a switch on the host unit selecting the desired printer. Power usage is minimized by shutting down transmitters, receivers, serial port drivers, and microprocessors whenever possible, and for extended periods when data is not being transmitted.
