  • Patent number: 5150851
Abstract: A tape dispenser comprises a housing, a reel core (3) rotatable in the housing about an axis and having an inner periphery formed with an annular array of inwardly directed core teeth (17), and a drive wheel rotatable in the housing about the axis. A plurality of elastically deformable spring tongues (15) formed unitarily with each other each extend at an angle to the axis from the respective inner end fixed to the drive wheel to a respective outer end lying within the reel core adjacent the inner periphery thereof. Each inner end is axially offset and radially inwardly offset from the respective outer end and each outer end is integrally formed with at least one tongue tooth engaging between the core teeth. A supply of tape (14) is wound on the reel core such that when the tape is payed out or wound up on the reel core same rotates relative to the drive wheel and the core teeth move angularly relative to the tongue teeth with elastic inward deflection of same.

  • Patent number: 5135798
Abstract: A multilayer, flexible transfer strip with an auxiliary carrier and a contact adhesive coating, whereby between the auxiliary carrier and the contact adhesive coating is provided a binder-containing transfer coating, which has a stronger adhesion to the contact adhesive coating than to the auxiliary carrier. The binder-containing transfer coating contains a tear-off aid in the form of a soluble cellulose derivative. On incorporating white pigments into the transfer coating, the transfer strip can be used for correcting written representations or typed characters. Correction takes place rapidly and simply and leads to the formation of a uniform coating with a sharp tear-off.

  • Patent number: 4938617
Abstract: A thermocarbon ribbon having a foil-type carrier and a color transfer layer or melt color has its adhesion for the the paper substrate increased by an adhesion coating applied to the color transfer layer. The adhesion layer consists of a parafin wax matrix in which a sticky hydrocarbon resin is dispersed in finely divided form so that during printing, when the temperature of the adhesion layer is raised, the paraffin wax melts, dissolves the finely divided hydrocarbon resin and allows the sticky characteristic of the latter to increase adhesion of the color transfer material to the paper.

  • Patent number: 4898486
Abstract: A thermocarbon ribbon is formed by emulsifying two mutually incompatible thermoplastic polymers melting at heat-transfer temperatures of a wax. The emulsion containing a pigment is applied to a ribbon support and the solvent is evaporated. The ribbon has multi-strike capabilities and improved sharpness of transfer to rough paper resulting from the presence in the solid continuous phase of beads or microspheres of a dispersed phase, both phases being formed by the polymers.

  • Patent number: 4891260
Abstract: A transfer ribbon for applying a film of a cover material to a substrate, especially a paper substrate provided with markings to be covered or to be provided with a stripe of color from a coloring agent contained in the cover material, has a carrier-foil strip to which a cover layer is applied and an adhesive layer applied to that cover layer. The adhesion between the cover layer and the foil is less than the adhesion between the cover layer and the adhesive layer so that when the adhesive side of the ribbon is pressed against the substrate, the foil can be withdrawn to leave the cover layer, containing the coloring agent, thereon.
