Abstract: A high-efficiency, multi-stage centrifugal pump and method of assembly. The pump can include three pump stages with each one of the three pump stages including a front casing, a back casing, an impeller, and a bladed diffuser. The front casing and the back casing are removeably coupled around the impeller and the bladed diffuser. In the three-stage pump, the fluid can be pumped at a flow rate between about 300 liters per second and about 500 liters per second with an efficiency between about 86% and about 91%. The method includes separately casting, machining, and polishing each one of the front casing, the back casing, the impeller, and the bladed diffuser.

  • Patent number: 8313305
Abstract: The invention provides a fluid system with a pump activation device. The fluid system can include a tank containing fluid and a conduit connected to the tank for the distribution of fluid. The fluid system can include a pump apparatus that increases fluid pressure through the fluid system in response to a flow rate of fluid through the fluid system. The pump activation device can include a magnet that generates a magnetic field, causing the pump apparatus to increase the fluid pressure when the pump activation device is moved to an activation position.

  • Patent number: 7980833
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coupling assembly used to connect a rotatable motor shaft to a drive shaft in, for example, a fluid pump. In one embodiment, the coupling assembly of the present invention includes a seal gland that doubles as a jacking gland, thereby facilitating both the raising and/or lowering of a fluid pump's shaft and impeller assembly from the pump's motor. In another embodiment, the coupling assembly of the present invention includes a seal gland having therein one or more connectors that enable the seal gland to be raised and lowered relative the position of the pump's motor. In still another embodiment, the present invention relates to a method for replacing the mechanical seal in the casing portion of a fluid pump.

  • Patent number: 7876539
Abstract: Various electrical apparatuses which include a current dampening device are disclosed. In one embodiment, an electrical apparatus is provided which includes a motor and a switch having an “on” position and an “off” position to control the operation of the motor. A current dampening device is connected in parallel with the motor downstream from the switch to dampen transient current. In another embodiment a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is electrically connected to the motor upstream from the switch.

  • Patent number: 7341660
Abstract: The invention is a three stage wastewater treatment system having a first tank, a second tank and a third tank, all in fluid communication and forming a unitary structure. The first and second tanks are nested, where the first tank is the innermost tank. The first tank has a clarifier structure disposed therein separating the interior of the first tank into a quiescent zone and an aeration zone. Positioned in the aeration zone is at least one air injector positioned. The treatment system is covered, and is generally buried (but can be used above ground).

  • Patent number: 7250610
Abstract: A UV disinfection device having a contact chamber, the chamber being a container with an interior, a top portion and a bottom portion. A partition is positioned in the interior to form a first and second chamber, where the first and second chambers are in fluid communication near the bottom portion of the container. The container has an inlet in one of the first or second chambers, where the inlet is formed in the container near the top portion. The device includes an outlet in the other of the first or second chambers, and an ultraviolet lamp is positioned in either the first or second chambers.

  • Patent number: 7223343
Abstract: A reactor chamber for placement in a wastewater treatment system, where the reactor chamber has a chamber formed from a sidewall which forms an interior of the chamber. The sidewall has a top portion and a bottom portion and fixed channel growth media positioned in the interior of the chamber. The fixed channel growth media is positioned below the top of the sidewall, so that when positioned in a treatment system, most of the growth media is located below the water level in the treatment system. The top of the sidewall near the water level (when positioned in a treatment system) is substantially impermeable to wastewater. The reactor includes an air distribution manifold system having a series of air release sites positioned below the fixed channel growth media and adapted to release air which disperses upwardly through the fixed channel growth media. Influent is discharged into the treatment tank near the air discharge sites.

  • Patent number: 7014769
Abstract: The present invention is a method for reducing the nitrate concentration in wastewater within a wastewater treatment apparatus configured to define an aeration zone and a quiescent zone or dilution zone. The method comprises the step of ceasing airflow into the aeration zone for a predetermined time period or until the dissolved oxygen level within the wastewater has reached a predetermined threshold. The method also comprise the step of mixing the wastewater in the aeration zone to prevent suspended particles within the wastewater in the aeration zone from settling and to avoid substantially disturbing the quiescence of the quiescent zone.
