  • Patent number: 9429956
Abstract: A modular check valve system for providing back pressure to a fluid flow having a housing with a seating end, a receiving end, a housing annulus, and a housing sealing surface. The modular check valve system can also have at least one cartridge insert fluidly connected to the housing. The cartridge insert can have a poppet engaging a cartridge housing sealing surface, a pair of O-rings positioned on the cartridge housing, and a rod secured to the poppet. The rod is configured to move the poppet from a sealed position to an open position. A spring guide with spring is disposed around the rod. A compression adjustment device is connected to the first rod opposite the spring guide to apply force to the rod sealing the poppet against the cartridge housing sealing surface and creating fluid back pressure in the housing annulus when the spring is decompressed.

  • Patent number: 9031789
Abstract: A system and method for testing a fluid seal in a device can include pumping fluid to the device and a control device simultaneously, while measuring the pressure of the fluid pumping to both devices. A change in volume of the fluid in the control device can be initiated, a change in pressure difference associated with the change in volume can be determined, and a leak test ratio can be formed therefrom. Changes in the pressure difference can be used to determine the presence of fluid leaks, which can be presented as test results to users connected to a network. A leak volume can be determined using the change in pressure difference and the leak test ratio.

  • Patent number: 8650934
Abstract: A testing system for connectors usable with oil or natural gas wells using a test part connector and a control component connector. The system uses a test fluid in a test reservoir that is pumped to each connector simultaneously and using a test part pressure transducer and a control component pressure transducer to create a test response and a control response. The responses are then transmitted to a processor, which then compares the responses and presents compared results on a display, through a network and transmitted to a client device of a user.

  • Patent number: 8078413
Abstract: A system for evaluating the leak tightness of a connector, or multiple connectors. The system uses an administrative server having a library of pressure and temperature information on various connectors, as well as the ability to report pressure and temperature data to a network as uncorrected and corrected responses. The system uses a data logger for recording pressure and temperature readings and also reporting corrected and uncorrected responses using one or more equations to shorten the test time by at least 50 percent or to about 5 minutes or less. The system uses a test pump for applying pressure to a connector to generate a corrected pressure which indicates leaks when the corrected pressure changes.

  • Patent number: 8037933
Abstract: An externally testable redundant seal connector for a well comprising a connector body and a ferrule disposed on an end of the connector body. The ferrule is adapted for forming a primary seal between an outer diameter of the connector body and a profile in a mandrel. A sealing groove can be formed on the outer diameter of the connector body. A sealing device can be disposed in the sealing groove. A conduit can be formed in the connector body parallel to but disconnected from the thru-bore. Ports can be disposed in the connector body for receiving fluid and introducing fluid to at least one conduit. A plug can be insertable in each port upon completion of testing wherein each plug forms a secondary seal between the connector and the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 7219736
Abstract: An externally testable redundant connection for a subsea well includes a tube, a connector assembly, and collar. The connector assembly includes a jam nut over the tube; a ferrule over the tube adjacent the jam nut; and a double jam nut disposed over the tube adjacent to the ferrule. The double jam nut includes a test port adapted to receive a test fluid through the test port for determining if the primary seal and the secondary seal are providing a leak proof sealing engagement. The collar engage the tube and transfers an axial force from the double jam nut and compresses the tube into a female profile forming a primary seal. A secondary seal is formed from a compression of the ferrule into the double jam nut using the jam nut.
