Patent number: 10582879Abstract: Systems and methods for registering, verifying, dynamically referencing, and navigating an anatomical region of interest of a patient are provided. In one embodiment, the anatomical region of interest is imaged using an imaging device such as, for example, an x-ray device. A tracked registration device may then be removably inserted following a path within the anatomical region and the position of the registration device may be sampled by a tracking device as the registration device is moved within the anatomical region through the catheter. The sampled position data is registered to the image data to register the path to the anatomical region of interest. The same or a similar device may be used to dynamically reference the movements affecting the anatomical region and modify the registration in real time. The registration may also be verified.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2016Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: PHILIPS ELECTRONICS LTDInventor: Neil David Glossop

Patent number: 8047673Abstract: A light control device implemented as a luminaire exhibits an ultra-wide batwing luminous intensity distribution in an upper hemisphere that provides substantially uniform illumination of a ceiling surface, even when the luminaire is mounted very close to the ceiling. Luminous side panel diffusers facilitate blending the luminaire with the ceiling surface as they create a batwing luminous intensity distribution in a lower hemisphere to evenly illuminate a work plane.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2008Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Assignee: Philips Electronics LtdInventor: Scott Santoro

Patent number: 8021027Abstract: A conventional acorn style globe is described incorporating the utilization of LED's as an illumination source. A supporting heat dissipation plate is provided which extends to the exterior periphery of the acorn style luminaire allowing heat to transfer from the LED's directly to the exterior of the acorn style luminaire while maintaining the integrity of an acorn style globe construction. A plurality of individually orientable lenses on each of the LED's positioned within the interior of the globe allow for efficient downlight and desirable optical characteristics. Interior access may be provided through removal of the globe top to thereby provide accessibility to the LED board mounted on the heat transfer plate.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2008Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Philips Electronics LtdInventors: Guy Galipeau, Michel Fortin, Jean-Francois Laporte, Jonathan Hardy

Patent number: 7946734Abstract: A low upright cutoff classification acorn style luminaire is described. The acorn style luminaire has a globe which has a top positioned thereon and which is mounted to a pole. Integrated within the luminaire is the lamp support and lamp, the lamp substantially surrounded and enclosed by a reflector. The interior surface of the globe has a plurality of substantially vertically extending prisms along a curved surface thereof, the prisms working in conjunction with the reflector to provide cutoff classification for the acorn style luminaire.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2008Date of Patent: May 24, 2011Assignee: Philips Electronics LTDInventor: Jean-Francois Laporte

Patent number: 7840251Abstract: An apparatus having an insertable portion for holding a position sensor is disclosed. The position sensor can transmit a signal indicative of its position with respect to a field generator. The insertable portion of the catheter has fiducial markings that are detectable by an imaging modality when the insertable portion is inserted into the anatomical body. The fiducial markings are asymmetrical about at least a first axis of the insertable portion. After the insertable portion has been inserted into the anatomical body, the fiducial markings can be detected to facilitate registration of the position sensor held in the insertable portion to the anatomical body. The apparatus also has a fixing mechanism for releasably fixing the insertable portion to the anatomical body. The non-symmetrical fiducial markings facilitate unambiguous registration of the insertable portion to the anatomical body.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2004Date of Patent: November 23, 2010Assignee: Philips Electronics LtdInventor: Neil David Glossop

Patent number: 7805269Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for testing and correcting the accuracy of a tracking device in a volume using an accuracy device. The invention may include placing a rigid object into an experimental volume and sampling position and orientation information regarding one or more position indicating elements at known positions relative to a frame of reference of the tracking device. The position and orientation information may then be compared to known baseline position and orientation information. If a difference between the experimental position and orientation information and the baseline position and orientation information exceeds a predetermined threshold, a correction map enabling adjustment of the tracking device to correct for the distortion in the experimental volume may be generated, and the tracking device may be adjusted accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2005Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: Philips Electronics LtdInventor: Neil David Glossop
