Publication number: 20160116194Abstract: An evaporative cooler has a housing with evaporative media at air inlets. A blower draws air into the inlets and through the media and then out an air outlet from the housing. A water pump in a water reservoir pumps water onto the media so that evaporation of the water cools the air being output by the blower. A timer is connected to the water pump to switch between ON operation that pumps water to the media and an OFF state in which the pump is not operated. The pump is cycled during operation of the cooler.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2015Publication date: April 28, 2016Applicant: Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: Donald L. Townsend

Publication number: 20150059376Abstract: Evaporative cooler apparatus includes two pumps, a primary pump which pumps water to an evaporative medium and a secondary pump for pumping water from the bottom of the cooler to drain the water reservoir of the cooler. The secondary, or drain pump includes a programmable timer that is operable by a user to select a run time duration for the pump motor from a plurality of possible run times. The programmable drain pump also includes a user control for selection of an off-state time from a plurality of available off-state times or intervals between run times of the drain pump motor. The programmable drain pump also includes a constant on control and a test control.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2014Publication date: March 5, 2015Applicant: PHOENIX MANUFACTURING, INC.Inventors: Gary Stephen Jouas, John Patrick Koponen

Publication number: 20150059393Abstract: A utility cart comprises a first container configured as an evaporative cooling system having a water reservoir disposed at a bottom end thereof in fluid communication with an evaporative medium. The evaporative cooling system further includes a fan to blow or draw outside air through the wet evaporative medium and out to the surrounding environment as cooled air. The utility cart further includes a second container coupled to the first container, the second container configured as an insulated chest cooler for holding ice and having a drain port for draining out melt water from melting ice disposed in the chest cooler, the drain port being configured to feed melt water into the evaporative cooling system.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2014Publication date: March 5, 2015Applicant: PHOENIX MANUFACTURING, INC.Inventors: Gary Stephen Jouas, Lawrence Chavez

Patent number: 8950200Abstract: An evaporative cooled condenser unit employs a quiet motor/fan system that pulls air across an evaporative media pad, through a drift eliminator and delivers cool air to a condensing unit of an air conditioner thereby increasing the operating efficiency of the air conditioner. A condenser enclosure into which the cool air is delivered is adjustable for various sizes of condenser units and contains a plurality of barometric dampers to provide failsafe operation and provide for external air flow to the condenser during heat pump operation or when the auxiliary cooling module is disabled.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2012Date of Patent: February 10, 2015Assignee: Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Donald I. Townsend, Lawrence R. Chavez, Gary Stephen Jouas

Patent number: 6202429Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining an enclosed space proximate a selected comfort level, and for conserving utilities, the apparatus comprising a housing in communicating relation with the enclosed space and the external environment and having an evaporative cooler for cooling the enclosed space and having a predetermined operating efficiency, and a spaced apart air conditioner for either selectively cooling or heating the enclosed space, having a baffle that restricts airflow to the air conditioner and an operating efficiency different from the evaporative cooler, and a control mechanism for automatically and selectively switching back and forth from operation of the evaporative cooler to the air conditioner in response to ambient conditions of the external environment and the operating efficiencies of the evaporative cooler and the air conditioner.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1998Date of Patent: March 20, 2001Assignee: Phoenix Manufacturing Inc.Inventors: Stephen W. Patent number: 6123346Abstract: A casino money cart having a number of storage bays, a pair of bicycle wheels center-mounted on axles located between internal bulkhead panels and outer side panels, and four slightly recessed corner casters. The bulkhead panels form part of an internal frame structure which mounts the outer side panels, as well as front and back outer panels. Corner trim elements and rivets tie the outer panels together and to the internal frame structure. A crowned or arched sliding top cover serves to prevent objects from being placed on top of the money cart and gives the cart a "treasure chest" look. An angle-mounted roller drawer slide mechanism is additionally provided which biases a rear access cash drawer in the "in" position.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1995Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Assignee: Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: William C. Patent number: 5527157Abstract: Evaporative cooler apparatus includes two pumps, a primary pump which pumps water to an evaporative medium and a secondary pump for pumping water from the bottom of the cooler to drain the cooler. The secondary, or drain pump includes a timer so that it is only on to drain water from the bottom of the cooler for a predetermined time, and after a predetermined number of hours of operation of the primary pump. That is, there is a direct relationship between the operation of the cooler apparatus as evidenced by the primary pump, and the draining of the water at the bottom of the cooler by the secondary, or drain pump. The efficiency of the pumps is increased to allow them to pump with a very low water level without cavitation problems by virtue of an impeller design which includes vanes on the bottom of the impeller disk and vanes on top of an impeller disk.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1994Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Assignee: Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Harold O. Collins, James J. Hennessy, Gilbert Mancillas
