  • Patent number: 11946857
Abstract: A method and system for frequency matching a resonant cavity is disclosed. Light is received in a resonant cavity having at least a first mirror and a second mirror defining a path along which light is reflected. At least the second mirror is actuatable to vary the length of the path of the resonant cavity. An intensity of the light exiting or reflecting from the resonant cavity is monitored, and an error correction is determined. The second mirror is actuated towards a pose relative to the first mirror at which a frequency of the light is in resonance with the length of the path. In this manner, the resonant cavity is frequency matched to the light to maintain the resonant cavity in resonance.

  • Patent number: 11788957
Abstract: Methods and systems for analyzing a sample and generating a predictive model using cavity ring-down spectroscopy are disclosed. At least part of a sample is loaded in a ring-down cavity. For each of a set of wavelengths, a laser beam is generated and directed into the ring-down cavity. The laser beam entering the ring-down cavity is extinguished. Light intensity decay data for light exiting the ring-down cavity is registered via a light intensity sensor system. A probability is determined from the light intensity decay data for the set of wavelengths that a subject from which the sample was received has a physiological condition or a degree of the physiological condition at least indirectly using a dataset of light intensity decay data for previously analyzed samples for which the presence or the absence of the physiological condition or the degree of the physiological condition have been identified.

  • Patent number: 11506601
Abstract: There is provided a resonant cavity system. A first mirror is actuated at a first end of a resonant cavity to move in a direction between a first position relative to a second mirror at a second end of the resonant cavity, at which a cavity length between the first mirror and the second mirror is less than a resonance length for a laser beam, and a second position relative to the second mirror, at which the cavity length is greater than the resonance length. An event is triggered when the cavity length is proximal to the resonance length. The first mirror is continuously actuated to move in the direction between the first position and the second position during the event.

  • Patent number: 10925515
Abstract: An apparatus for collecting volatile organic compounds from a gas sample such as alveolar breath or room air comprises an exhaust portion having at least a flow measuring device, and a discriminating device for distinguishing between alveolar and non-alveolar breath. The apparatus further comprises a collection portion distinct from and parallel with the exhaust portion having at least a collection component for receiving and concentrating gas samples within a collection chamber and a sampling component having a plurality of sampling devices for receiving the concentrated gas sample from the collection chamber and isolating VOCs contained in the gas sample. The collection chamber is compressible via a drive mechanism for precisely actuating the chamber to draw a gas sample into the collection chamber and circulating the sample to the sampling devices. Use of a drive mechanism enables the exhaust portion to be distinct from the collection portion, thereby mitigating cross-contamination therebetween.

  • Patent number: 10666012
Abstract: A method and system for obtaining single-frequency operation of a laser system. A laser beam is emitted from a laser cavity, having an adjustable length, at a plurality of cavity lengths. At least a portion of the laser beam is received at a detector, which detects the presence of transverse and/or longitudinal modes in the laser beam, and generates a laser beam signal having a beat-note indicative thereof. The laser beam signal for each of the plurality of cavity lengths can be analyzed, and a cavity length of best mode purity, indicating single-frequency operation, can be selected. The laser beam system can emit a laser and have a laser beam splitter for directing at least a portion of the emitted laser beam to a laser beam detector for generating at least one laser beam signal therefrom, and an actuator for adjusting the length of the laser cavity.
