Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing and setting up mobile working equipment using an interactive control console and specialized programming is provided. The interactive control console provides the user with a decision tree having a plurality of decision groups. The decision groups are sequentially presented to the user for a particular application of the mobile working equipment. The system in transportable and can be programmed for any mobile working construction equipment. The interactive control console and method associated therewith provides enhanced User interface, and assures proper configuration within safety regulations and standards.
Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring and controlling a complex construction installation from a local or remote location. Each of the functional components of the installation have slave processors associated therewith. The slave processors are coupled to a master and additional processing unit. A communication system for each of the functional components connects all of the functional elements within the components and enables a two way data communication between the master and additional processors and the communication systems. A single control unit coupled to the communication system enables the local, off-line monitoring and controlling of the installation. A remote decentralized routing station coupled to the communication system enables the remote, on-line monitoring and controlling of the installation.
Abstract: A cab for accommodating the operator of a vehicle or machine, especially a traveling crane or other type of construction machinery. It comprises a seat for the operator, an operating-information display system with a monitor and display instruments in the seated operator's field of vision, and at least one optionally multiple-function operations-control device directly within his reach. The information-display system consists of a monitor with a liquid-crystal display and of a projection screen remote therefrom. The screen pivots around one axis and tilts around another axis at an angle thereto within the operator's field of vision. A source of light behind the monitor projects the displayed information onto the screen.
Abstract: A cockpit for operating vehicles and heavy equipment, especially cranes, construction equipment. It has a seat for the operator, a monitor for the controls, instruments in view of the operator, and at least one optionally multiple-function machinery control directly accessible by the seated operator. The monitor pivots and tilts around two non-parallel axes and can be directly viewed and accessed by the operator.
Abstract: An arrangement for measuring distortion in cylinders. A sensor projects straight out of the end of a motion-transmitting arm. The arm can be both translated and rotated. The sensor accommodates a probe that probes the geometry of the surface of the cylinder. The sensor has a distortion-measuring structure accommodated in the head of a surface-geometry probe and a check for axially secured and undeflected tensioning of the probe. The probe is an elongated geometry-probing pin. The structure is securely tensioned remote from the chuck in the vicinity of a structure-attachment section in the head. The structure includes at least one zone of attenuation between the chuck and the structure-attachment section and has a resilient section and a strain gauge.
Abstract: A probe is an elongated tube with sensors positioned to match the cylinder bores with respect to number and distance apart and having radially projecting contact pins. When employed as intended, the probe rotates and slides back and forth in stationary bearings that are in turn accommodated in uprights in a stand. The probe extends through the bores of the work, which is precisely positioned between the uprights by the same bearings. A drive unit with a driveshaft in alignment with the probe and with motors that operate in conjunction with the latter to generate a translation and a rotation respectively is also mounted stationary in the stand independent of the aforesaid bearings. One end of the probe is coupled to the driveshaft such that it can neither rotate on nor slide axially along it by a universal joint that compensates within limits for angular error and radial shaft displacement.
