Patent number: 4783060Abstract: The invention relates to an immersion lance for the introduction of treatment media such as gases, more particularly inert gases and/or carrier gases by which solids such as slag-forming substances, carbon or the like are transported, into a vessel filled with liquid metal, more particularly for the treatment of pig iron or steel. The immersion lance comprises an inner metal tube for the supply of the medium and a refractory monolithic ceramic jacketing, which is supported by means of a reinforcement bearing against the inner tube, one or more outlet apertures being provided which penetrate the jacketing. The reinforcement bearing enclosing the inner tube is formed by at least one spirally coiled ribbed band forming rib members with uniform spacings and being connected to the inner rib.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1987Date of Patent: November 8, 1988Assignee: Plibrico Company GmbHInventors: Erich Struzik, Hans D. Patent number: 4317418Abstract: An anchor tile hanger for anchoring refractory brick to the roof of a furnace structure is comprised of a pair of vertically spaced apart plates having aligned cutouts in the upper edges which cutouts are adapted to engage the lower horizontal portion of a suspended I-beam. Attached to each of the ends of the vertically aligned plates are a pair of U-shaped rods each having a bight portion turned inwardly and facing one other which are adapted to engage and anchor the refractory tile or brick. The cutouts in the vertical disposed plates include overhang portions for positioning the tile hanger about the lower horizontal portions of the I-beam and clearance areas which facilitate assembly and insection of the tile hanger about the lower horizontal portion of the I-beam.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1980Date of Patent: March 2, 1982Assignee: Plibrico CompanyInventors: Jacob B. Patent number: 4255127Abstract: A precast insulating material member for insulating a furnace skid rail includes a precast insulating material portion containing a crisscross reinforcing structure. The crisscross reinforcing structure is comprised of a pair of arcuate-shaped rods which are welded together intermediate their ends, each rod having end-eye portions which extend outwardly from the corners of the U-shaped precast insulating member. Positioned about the crisscross-shaped rods are coil members which assist in reinforcing the insulating portion of the member when the reinforcing structure is embedded within the insulating portion. The end-eye portions of the rods provide a mechanical lock of the insulating member to a skid rail pipe when the eye portions are moved into engagement with the outer surface of the skid rail pipe.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1979Date of Patent: March 10, 1981Assignee: Plibrico CompanyInventors: Anthony J. Skifano, Melvin L. Bouts

Patent number: 4134721Abstract: A precast reinforced insulating member and a method of manufacturing same. The reinforced insulating member is used for covering a furnace pipe or the like and comprises a body of insulating material, a plurality of reinforcing coil members and weldable lugs secured at each end of the reinforcing coil members. The body of insulating material has an arcuate shaped inner surface adapted to extend in intimate contact with the surface of a furnace tube in use and a pair of transverse side faces. The reinforcing coil members are embedded in the body and extend circumferentially thereof at longitudinally spaced intervals along the length of the body. Each of the coil members has oppositely disposed ends thereof disposed at adjacent side faces of the body. Passages open through the body between the inner and outer surfaces thereof adjacent each end of each reinforcing coil member. The weldable lugs are secured to each end of the reinforcing coil member.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1977Date of Patent: January 16, 1979Assignee: Plibrico Company Inc.Inventors: Raymond W.
