  • Patent number: 4596564
Abstract: A medical applicance of a stationary surgical suction device comprised of an ultramalleable formable tube that may readily be shaped in situ. The tube is comprised of a formable, flexible tubular plastic ultramalleable material, having at least one fluid conveying lumen and includes a parallel oriented malleable member that is disposed within the plastic material so as to be frictionally interrelated to the tubular plastic material. A method of fabricating the lumen includes the steps of furnishing a plastic tubing having at least a pair of lumens, furnishing an elongated malleable member of cross-section complementary to that of one of the lumens and of a size in excess of the size of the lumen, dilating the lumen to allow insertion of the malleable member into the lumen and allowing the lumen to shrink onto the malleable member to effect a frictional engagement with the lumen.

  • Patent number: 4541421
Abstract: Halo fixation system for fixation of a head about an orthopedic jacket with an attached halo assembly with respect to the cervical region such as for spine trauma. The halo fixation system includes eight fixated round ball-socket and rod assemblies, four assemblies affixed to the jacket and four assemblies in twin opposing captured elevation screw assemblies. The halo is adjustable through the twin captured elevation screw assemblies. Rods connected between the ball and socket assemblies of the jacket and of the captured elevation assemblies which support the halo. The halo can be either metal or composite material, and either a closed or open halo. The halo is omni adjustable about the head based on the omni directional adjustable rod in the ball-socket configurations located about the halo head piece and the jacket.

  • Patent number: 4533352
Abstract: Surgical suction mat including a rib, or the like, pliable member of a predetermined geometrical shape, a longitudinal cylindrical hose connected to the plurality of holes and being of a finite length including a suction hose connecton at the other end where the rib design with the holes provides suction to remove fluids oriented at an angle to the suction ports. The longitudinal cylindrical hose can include a parallel wire hose or the like to maintain a predetermined position. The ribbed design or the like of the pliable member allows drainage of fluids and lifts vessels, tissue or the like above the fluids. The ribbed pliable member is preferably opaque blue as a preferred color for working in a body tissue environment. The suction hose can be encompassing within the pliable member. The surgical suction mat can also be made of porous material with or without ribs.
