Publication number: 20240184198Abstract: Microcapsules including a color-filtering shell and a core comprising a leuco dye or dye precursor, a photoinitiator or photosensitizer, and a photohardenable or photosoftenable material are provided for use in microcapsule imaging sheets. The imaging sheets including such microcapsules reduce undesirable crosstalk among the microcapsules of various colors and provide significantly improved color fidelity of the image thus reproduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2022Publication date: June 6, 2024Applicant: Polaroid IP B.V.Inventors: Rong-Chang Liang, Wei You, Chun-Jen Chen

Publication number: 20240130359Abstract: Described herein are quaternary ammonium polymers and interpenetrating polymer networks and compositions thereof with broad spectrum antimicrobial properties that produce fast acting, long lasting, non-toxic and non-allergenic colorless and transparent durable surface coatings that are resistant to water and common solvents. The surface coatings are easy and cost effective to produce from readily-available materials using versatile synthesis enabling a wide range of chemical variations. They are readily applied to a wide range of surfaces and materials, and no materials leach out of the coatings.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2023Publication date: April 25, 2024Applicant: Polaroid IP B.V.Inventors: Stephen Robert Herchen, Rong-Chang Liang, Christian Ewald Janssen

PRIMERS WITH IMPROVED REFLECTIVE AND THERMALLY INSULATIVE PROPERTIES FOR MICROCAPSULE IMAGING SYSTEM
Publication number: 20230393460Abstract: Primer layers having improved reflectivity and thermal insulation properties are provided for use in microencapsulated thermal imaging sheets. Primer layers having a polymeric binder, of about 3% to about 60% by weight, relative to the total weight of the primer layer, of a white particulate, a primer substrate, and hollow particulate particles improve the reflectivity, color development, color density, and thermal insulation of microcapsule imaging sheets including the same. A black back-coat applied to the substrate on a side opposite the primer layer further enhances the Dmax and E10 of microcapsule imaging sheets and prevents premature exposure of microcapsule imaging sheets in stacked media.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2022Publication date: December 7, 2023Applicant: Polaroid IP B.V.Inventors: Rong-Chang Liang, Wei You, Yi Wen Chen -
Publication number: 20230393459Abstract: Microcapsules including a polymeric shell and an internal phase including a non-photopolymerizable reactive diluent are provided for use in microcapsule imaging sheets. Imaging sheets including microcapsules which include a non-photopolymerizable reactive diluent, and which exhibit improvements in color development (Dmax), discoloration (yellowing) resistance, mechanical properties (e.g., peel strength), and temperature latitude of imaging sheets including leuco dyes.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2022Publication date: December 7, 2023Applicant: Polaroid IP B.V.Inventors: Wei You, Chun-Jen Chen, Rong-Chang Liang

Publication number: 20230382131Abstract: A method for enhancing resolution of a radiation sensitive microcapsule-based printer includes generating multiple subpixels in a sub-scan direction. The method further includes mapping multiple grids onto a photosensitive medium, the multiple grids corresponding to the multiple subpixels. The method further includes determining an exposure energy required for each grid of the multiple grids. The method further includes allocating the exposure energy required for each grid into a first exposure level and a second exposure level. The method further includes exposing each grid of the photosensitive medium to the corresponding first exposure level and the corresponding second exposure level sequentially as the photosensitive medium passes through the radiation sensitive microcapsule-based printer in the sub-scan direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2022Publication date: November 30, 2023Applicant: Polaroid IP B.V.Inventors: Yi-che Chen, Bor Hon Tu
