  • Patent number: 5756035
Abstract: A vascular prosthesis is adapted for use as an access graft having a permanent set, kink-resistant U-bend section. A method for making the access graft includes the utilization of a tube of implantable material adapted to be attached in a blood circulatory system and to provide thereby a site for access for cannulation, the tube having a permanent set, kink-resistant U-shaped bent section and the method including the steps of forming a straight tube by a process which yields a set, dryable tube; taking a length of the tube and inserting in it along its length a flexible rod-like support member; wrapping the tube containing the support member around a core so as to define a bend in the tube, the bend being wet at this stage; drying the wet tube containing the support member while wrapped around the core to permanently shape the tube into a bent form; removing the dried tube from the core and removing the support member so as to form an access graft, U-shaped bent section.

  • Patent number: 5653699
Abstract: A sheet-form composite suitable as a spyrosorbent wound dressing and exhibiting differential moisture vapor transport rate properties is disclosed. The sheet-form composite includes a hydrophilic, monolithic film layer characterized by having a differential ratio of wet to dry moisture transport rate greater than 1 and a dry moisture transport rate greater than about 2,600 g/m.sup.2 /24 hrs. This film layer is laminated to a hydrophilic exudate transport layer. The exudate transport layer can itself be, or can further include, a hydrophilic pressure sensitive adhesive applied in a continuous or discontinuous pattern. The sheet-form composite has a moisture vapor transport rate of greater than 2,000 g/m.sup.2 /24 hrs when dry, and a wet to dry moisture vapor transport rate ratio in the range of about 1.5 to about 10.

  • Patent number: 5549860
Abstract: A vascular prosthesis is formed from a luminate vessel by precipitating onto the vessel a sheet of polymer from a solution including an organic solvent and precipitable polymer, and forming an aperture in the sheet, the aperture communicating with the lumen of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5118779
Abstract: A non-toxic hydrophilic polyurethane elastomer having less than about 0.5% by weight extractables and which is curable in the absence of heat is disclosed. The elastomers are prepared from suitable hydrophilic polyurethane oligomers in combination with suitable ultraviolet light absorbers which become chemically bound into the elastomer during the polymerization (curing) thereof and thus become essentially non-extractable therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5098500
Abstract: A sheet-form material suitable as wound dressing and having enhanced moisture control properties is disclosed. This sheet-form material includes a porous sheet of absorbent, elastomeric segmented polyurethane having an open pore structure and an apertured adhesive facing on one side of the porous sheet. A liquid impermeable but water vapor permeable backing may be provided on the opposite side of the porous sheet, if desired. Also disclosed is a method for forming an apertured adhesive facing for the sheet-form material.
