  • Publication number: 20180343895
Abstract: A process for manufacturing an injection molded pet treat in a single, continuous and sterile production line, is disclosed. The process comprises inputting raw material in a storage container of the injection molding machine. The raw materials are dispensed from the storage container to a hopper of the injection molding machine. The quantity of the raw material in the hopper is maintained to a preset threshold value for continuous flow in the production line. The raw material is heated at a predetermined temperature to a semi-liquid state in an injection unit of the injection molding machine. Further, the heated raw material is injected into a thinner and uniform wall thickness mold pet treat design, thereby enabling rapid cooling of the molded pet treat. The molded pet treat is ejected to the injection molding discharge area, and conveyed to a packaging unit for packing the final pet treat product.

  • Publication number: 20180029270
Abstract: A side gate nozzle assembly for a hot runner apparatus comprises a disc shaped base body, a probe member, a sealing insulator, and a shape memory alloy washer. The probe member with a probe channel extends from the base body. A molten molding material is received through a melt channel of the nozzle body, and allowed to pass through the probe channel to be transferred to a cavity of a cavity member. The shape memory alloy washer is positioned between the base body and the sealing insulator. The shape memory alloy washer distorts linearly to push the sealing insulator and the probe member according to change in temperature due to transfer of the molten molding material from the melt channel to the cavity member via the probe channel. The distorted shape memory alloy washer prevents leakage of the molten molding material from the melt channel, and the probe channel.

  • Publication number: 20160158983
Abstract: The present invention relates to a perimeter ejector system for an injection molding apparatus comprising: a mold plate, housing a mold cavity consisting a molded material; and at least one lifting pin configured to extend through at least one corner or edge of the mold cavity, in order to eject the molded material off the cavity space. The lifting pin further comprises a push surface shaped to match the profile of the mold cavity, thus forming an integral part of the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 9302416
Abstract: An in-line single nozzle valve gate apparatus for injection molding comprises upper and lower matable annular cylinder bodies that house an annular dual sided piston having opposed pressure bearing upper and lower surfaces. The piston has a cross beam to which a valve gate pin is attached for movement therewith. The valve gate pin passes through a sprue bushing flow path to selectively open and close a part cavity gate. An interface is provided to receive molten plastic from the injection machine nozzle and pass it into the sprue bushing flow path. The cylinder bodies reside largely outside of the mold plate architecture to lessen thermal damage too piston seals.

  • Patent number: 6960072
Abstract: A hot sprue bushing is provided for transporting plasticized material from an injection nozzle to a mold cavity while controlling the temperature of the plasticized material. The hot sprue bushing has an elongate body having an inlet end for receiving the plasticized material, an outlet end for discharging the material, and a through passage for transporting plasticized material therethrough. The body also has first and second surfaces on opposed sides of the through passage and electrical heating means disposed adjacent the first and second surfaces respectively, the electrical heating means extending along at least a major portion of the length of the elongate body. Finally, the bushing has retaining means for retaining the first and second electrical heating means adjacent the first and second surfaces respectively and in heat conducting relationship therewith.

  • Patent number: 6095789
Abstract: A hot sprue bushing is provided for transporting plasticized material from an injection nozzle to a mold cavity while controlling the temperature of the plasticized material. This hot sprue bushing comprises an elongate body having a head, a stem and a distal end portion, and a through passage extending therethrough from end to end through the head, stem and distal end portion of the body for transporting plasticized material through the hot sprue bushing from the heat to the distal end portion thereof. The distal end portion of the body bears a first engaging device, and the head of the body is of greater cross-section than the stem so that the head provides a first abutment surface extending outwardly of the stem. An electrically powered heater is wrapped around the stem of the head in heating conducting relationship therewith.

  • Patent number: 5589206
Abstract: A highly reliable molding architecture which includes a two-zoned hot sprue bushing with an interchangeable tip for use in controlling the temperature of plasticized material while it flows from the injection nozzle to the gates of a cavity mold for fabricating flat, thin objects such as compact discs and the like. Advantageously, the hot sprue bushing is adjustable in length so that it can be used with a full range of standard or custom mold plate thicknesses or other required lengths, and the interchangeable tip does not require separate heating and temperature control. With the system and its hot sprue delivery system, compact disc defect levels and scrap losses are reduced.

  • Patent number: 5587188
Abstract: A multitip hot runner system for providing enhanced flexibility in the design, manufacture, and operation of multicavity molds. The system, which is self-contained, comprises a nozzle or manifold interface, externally heated flow passages, and interchangeable or replaceable tips. A fully hardened, generally rectangular parallelopiped shaped body permits a number of different multitip configurations, all of which maintain substantially uniform heating throughout the distribution architecture with the use of only a single thermocouple for temperature control. The parallelopiped shaped body is especially useful in molding parts arrayed in straight lines or in rectangular arrays.

  • Patent number: 5551863
Abstract: A high precision, self-contained runnerless molding system for use particularly in bench top molding machines. The system comprises two mold halves, one affixed to the fixed platen of the machine and the other moveable with the moveable platen of the machine. The fixed halve is integrated with heated sprues and interchangeable tips. One zone of temperature control suffices for regulating plastic temperature in the delivery system. The other half carries the "B"-plates and cooling system. Multiple drops are possible even with only one thermal control zone.
