  • Patent number: 6325091
Abstract: An apparatus for distributing priming water equally to a multiplicity of sewer drain traps includes a hollow body member sealed with a top cap having a water inlet therethrough, the bottom of the body member provided with outlet fittings for connecting to a plurality of separate sewer line traps, each outlet fitting corresponding with a port communicating with the hollow interior of the body member, and a metering funnel member positioned in the hollow body member to receive water delivered from the water inlet, the metering funnel member arranged to deliver equal amounts of water received by the funnel member to each of the outlet ports and corresponding outlet fittings connected to a plurality of individual sewer line drain traps. Unused water outlets may be selectively plugged without adversely affecting continuous and even distribution of water received by the distribution apparatus to the remaining unplugged water outlets.

  • Patent number: 5385172
Abstract: A water hammer arrester comprises a cylindrical body housing a piston for free sliding reciprocal movement and a connector for connection to a water conduit system which carries water under pressure. An abutment-bumper combination is interposed between piston and connector to avoid the ping which would be produced is these two elements of the assembly were to collide during reciprocation of the piston.

  • Patent number: 4644972
Abstract: A valve assembly for the control of pressurized fluids. The assembly comprises a casing housing a valve chamber with communicating inlet and outlet ports. A valve seat and valve-operating subassembly is associated with one of the ports. The valve-operating subassembly comprises a valve body threaded into the casing adjacent the valve seat. The valve body has an axial bore which receives a headed shaft having a seal washer mounted on its head in separable engagement with the valve seat. Resilient means, e.g. a coil spring, urges the washer in the direction of engagement with the valve seat with a force less than the force of the pressurized fluid introduced into the chamber. The shaft and/or seal washer preferably are mounted for free rotation to minimize scuffing of the washer during operation of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4497337
Abstract: A valve for automatically charging water into a sewer line trap from a water line containing water under variable pressure comprises a case having a longitudinal bore and means for connecting the case in series flow in the water line. A hollow shaft is mounted in the case and extends from the downstream portion a predetermined distance toward the upstream portion thereof. A piston slidably mounted on the shaft divides the bore of the case into an air chamber downstream of the piston and a water chamber upstream. A floating seal is mounted within the water chamber upstream of the piston and hollow shaft. The seal is advanced and retracted with fluctuations of water pressure in the water line. In its retracted position it charges the water chamber with water and compresses the air in the air chamber. In its advanced position, it discharges the water content of the water chamber into the trap, thereby maintaining the water level thereof.

  • Patent number: 4391295
Abstract: A hot water system in which a damped, gravity operated, check valve is interposed between the hot water heater and the hot water delivery pipe network. The valve opens when a tap is opened allowing hot water to pass into the pipes and to the tap. The valve is prevented from closing abruptly when the tap is closed by a close fitting cylinder which surrounds the valve piston and restricts fluid flow necessary for valve closure.

  • Patent number: 4204556
Abstract: A primer valve for sewer line drain traps comprises a case having an upper water inlet communicating with the pressurized house line and a lower water outlet communicating with the trap. The hollow interior of the case is divided into a lower valved dispensing chamber which dispenses water into the trap; an intermediate supply chamber which supplies water to the primer valve system, and an upper trapped-air chamber. The latter actuates the valve in the dispensing chamber and dispenses water to the trap each time the pressure in the house line drops.
