Patents Assigned to Preco Laser Systems, LLC
  • Patent number: 6794604
Abstract: The system for laser processing webs includes a laser system having a beam source, a controller and one or more heads to direct a laser beam onto a web. A cylinder cable of controlled rotation applies a web-securing force to the web under the laser beam to secure the web so that the web does not flutter or shift during laser processing. A template may be placed over the cylinder to apply the web-securing force in specific patterns or areas as needed.

  • Patent number: 6540952
Abstract: A method of providing multiple arcuate ablations on a corner portion of a polymeric laminate. The laminate includes more than one layer, with each layer having a an exposed upper surface. The method comprises selectively ablating a first layer in a first arcuate path, and selectively ablating remaining layers, each remaining layer ablated in a separate arcuate path. The arcuate path of any layer neither overlays nor underlies the arcuate path of any other layer.

  • Patent number: 6538230
Abstract: A high resolution, high speed laser drilling system for operating on an advancing product operates to advances the product in a predetermined product advancement path at a product advancement speed. A laser-generating source provides a pulsed laser beam having a laser-on time and a laser-off time. The laser beam is reflected to direct a focal point of the laser beam onto the advancing product. The focal point of the laser beam is moved in a direction of the product advancement path during the laser-on time and is moved in a direction opposite to the direction of the product advancement path during the laser-off time. The system is therefore able to improve laser drilling resolution for a given product advancement speed.

  • Publication number: 20030051440
Abstract: A system and method for producing a partially perforated tear line on a substrate material uses an high energy beam to ablate the substrate material at a depth less than full depth of the substrate. By varying the output energy level of the high energy beam for varying time intervals, a substrate material is weakened to provide an easy open feature without significantly reducing the tensile strength of the substrate material. The ratio of partial perforated to unablated substrate material may vary according to almost any ratio.

  • Publication number: 20030047695
Abstract: A system for synchronizing a cutting laser beam with the motion of a moving web material includes a beam source, optics, one or two moveable mirrors, one or two mirror motors, an encoder and a computer. The encoder, which is attached to a tension roller in the system, measures the speed of the moving web and generates a signal representative of the measured speed. The encoder transmits the measured clock signal to a computer, which synchronizes the motion of the mirrors and modulates the power of the laser according to the encoder clock signal. Thus, the galvo-laser is synchronized to the moving web.
