Abstract: An exercise apparatus includes a foot member configured to pivot about a horizontal pivot axis, the foot member supporting a footpad, a first surface coupled to the foot member to pivot with the foot member about the horizontal pivot axis, a second surface stationarily supported by the frame, and a bumper between the first surface and the second surface. The bumper resiliently compresses during pivoting of the first surface in the arc towards the second surface while in contact with the first surface and the second surface.

Abstract: In accordance with the principles of the present invention, a pendulous exercise device is provided that comprises first and second swing arms pivotally coupled to a frame. The first and second swing arms extend from the frame at an angle from vertical. First and second footpads are provided pivotally coupled to the first and second swing arms, respectively. Each footpad defines a footpath comprising a forward/rearward component, an upward/downward component and an inward/outward component.
Abstract: An exercise device as a member configured to be driven by one or more feet, a roller rotationally coupled to the first member and a first projection extending away from the first roller. The exercise device includes a roller guide including an inclined floor underlying the roller and overhang extending over the projection opposite a first side of the roller.
Abstract: An exercise device includes a member that moves through a selected one of a plurality of differently available paths. A display provides a visual representation of the movement of the first member.

Abstract: An exercise device includes a frame defining a longitudinal axis. A foot link includes a rearward portion that is constrained to move in an orbital path approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis and a forward portion that reciprocally engages the guide track. A swing arm is a pivotally connected to the frame, the swing arm having an upper portion extending above the pivotal connection and a lower portion disposed below the pivotal connection. An engagement mechanism having a first portion coupled to the lower portion and a second portion coupled to the forward portion of the foot link, such that a rearward force applied to the upper portion will produce a force on the forward portion having a downward component. An arm enabling/disabling mechanism is positioned on the elongate swing arm below the pivotal connection. The arm enabling/disabling mechanism can be effectuated by a user without the user interrupting exercise.

Abstract: An exercise device includes a frame, a pair of foot supports, and at least one four-bar linkage assembly coupled to the frame. The at least one linkage assembly is coupled to at least one of the foot supports. The four-bar linkage assembly directs the foot support in a generally elliptical motion while in use. The generally elliptical motion defines a major dimension extending at an angle from horizontal that is within the range of about thirty degrees (30°) to about seventy-five degrees (75°) and the major dimension having a length that is within the range of about ten inches to about eighteen inches.
Abstract: A weight system includes a selector configured to selectively couple incremental weights that extend through a weight stack to a weight lift.

Abstract: An exercise device is provided including a foot link having a rearward end and a forward end. An adjustable stride mechanism is provided. The adjustable stride mechanism includes a primary gear and a secondary gear. The primary gear is sized larger relative to the secondary gear. A primary crank connects the primary gear and the secondary gear. A timing belt connects the primary gear to the secondary gear. The primary crank and the timing belt enable the secondary gear to rotate around the primary gear. A secondary crank is pivotally attached to the secondary gear and to a foot link. The secondary crank creates an ellipse-shaped path for the foot link as the secondary gear rotates around the primary gear. Thus, the foot link motion combines an at least a dual ellipse motion. An automatic adjusting mechanism can be provided to adjust the adjustable stride mechanism.

Abstract: An elliptical exercise device includes a frame having a first pivot axis and a longitudinal axis, at least one foot link and at least one swing arm. The foot link is coupled to the frame and is constrained to move in an orbital path approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis. The swing arm is also coupled to the frame and has a reciprocating movement whereby a natural “stride” movement of the arm of a user is replicated. The swing arm operates independently from the foot link. The natural “stride” movement of the arm of the user grasping the arm link follows a generally concave motion relative to the ground. The length of the movement of the arm of the user is defined by the user. A different resistive load can be applied on the arm apparatus than on the foot links.

Abstract: A service tracking and alerting system for fitness equipment (18) includes one or more subsystems of multiple control servers (20) (ICS) to gather real time information from one or more fitness equipment units (22, 24) (FEU) via wireless connection and store such information in a temporary database (25). Multiple ICSs are linked to a remotely located accumulated data storage unit or silo (26) having a permanent storage database (27). One or more silos (26) and their corresponding ICSs are controlled, accessed, and interrogated through an enterprise level platform (32). Service alert messages may be generated and sent to one or more recipients if an FEU experiences a significant service event. Also, a reporting interface (190) allows users to access, enter, update and/or alter, service usage, warranty, and other information from the data storage units (26) and ICSs (20).

Abstract: An exercise apparatus for performing press exercises is provided. The exercise apparatus includes a frame and a support assembly adjustably coupled to the frame. A first press arm is coupled to the support assembly and is pivotal about a first pivot axis between a rest position and an extended position. A mechanism for add-on weights is further provided. The mechanism for add-on weights includes at least one add-on weight having a first region of contact and a second region of contact. The first region of contact can be defined by a selector pin hole in the add-on weight adapted to receive a selector pin. The selector pin engages the add-on weight approximately in line with the center of gravity of the add-on weight. The second region of contact can be provided by a stabilization bracket defining an aperture into which a stabilization pin on the add-on weight extends.
